I was sort of hoping maybe there was a patron saint of women who are trying to get married. It sounds a lot nicer than the patron saint of lost causes! :(

Maybe your friend should stop hanging round with Dire Straits. Mixing with ageing rockers can be a turn-off for some men. personally I don't mind - how old's you friend?

St Andrew is the patron saint of spinsters, old maids and unmarried women, although I am sure your friend will not want to be described as either of the first 2. Maybe she should stop looking, because people who are happy being single seem to be more attractive to others.

RE: Dire Straits--believe me, I would be delighted if she was hanging out with any aging rockers! She is 40, unattached and without a prospect in sight! She is of Italian descent so maybe I will slip a St. Rita statue into her car...
