moving back to the uk

very unexpectedly, i have to move back to the uk from spain. i have no family in the uk to stay with or help finding out information for me. can anyone help with what benefits i could claim until i get myself a job, housing benefits until i can afford my own rent etc etc ....... also, what part of the country would be the cheapest to live as i will be arriving back with no money

This is obviously a precarious situation for you to find yourself in and with no money it's going to be difficult to find any accommodation. However, if you are prepared to live-in on a temporary basis, you might be able to find a position as a live-in companion with your accommodation paid for. If you can get hold of a copy of The Lady magazine (and I assume it is still in existence) positions are advertised all over the country. Otherwise, a visit to a Citizens Advice bureau might be a starting point. I don't know whether they have an on-line facility whereby you could make some enquiries whilst still in Spain. Perhaps somebody else on here can advise.
