David Tennant will be seen raping his wife in a horrific 70-second scene in The Politician’s Husband.

The scene will be shown just after the 9p.m. watershed.

But you don't seem to pay any heed.....
anne/shari.........purely anecdotal.......for what it is worth.
Being asked to be raped is not being raped.

Sqad, sometimes you're a complete dimwit.
On what basis do you assume it's a piece of work by intelligent, talented and thoughtful artists? Both the actors and the writers are primarily driven by money. So including anal sex in a programme is now a portrayal of talent and intelligence? well bugger me.
^^ Haaaa! That made me laugh! :o)
JTH, *Sits watching clock* Yeah ok. Fair point :)

It's not something I'd want to watch for any amount of time, but that's just my own personal opinion - which is clearly very different to Sqad's.

Speaking of which... er... 'thanks' for sharing that with us, Sqad. Lovely...

re sqad.s posts, I do wonder if his views are a generational issue, no disrespect sqad .
Rape is usually a form of control so it's probably relative to the story.

Lol Prudie...
I'm sure that the writers etc. think that there is an artistic justification. "A physical expression of his power over her..." or some such. I'm not really a fan of such devices, but to each their own.

It's not necessary, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be part of the drama.
ummm and you mate JTH.............why don't you try working separately and terms like " dimwit" say more about you than they do about me.
there was a sex scene in the forst episode, just after the watershed, so viewers of the series lready have seen naughties occurring and shouldn't be surprised at more
sqad - Just because Ummmm and I share the same view of your, frankly, ridiculous comments, doesn't mean that we are working in tandem.

The fact that you are now throwing your toys out of your pram says far more about you than it does either of us.
lol...you post things that are quite offensive and then get offended.

I posted on this thread on the first page. Are you suggesting that Jack shouldn't give her opinion because of that?
I wouldn't feel comfortable watching such a scene, but then I don't enjoy 'normal' sex scenes, it's just not for me, but I'd be more worried about copycat rape. I'm a channel hopper, so I think I'd feel a little disturbed if I accidentally tuned into this at any time, more so at 9pm when I am trying to eat my dinner
But Sqad, it's not the first time you've spouted this rubbish about women "fantasising" about being raped. Urgh, just reading it makes me shudder.
Do you not have a single ounce of respect for the opposite sex?

"She asked me to take her back to her cottage, tie her to the bed and rape her. "

So basically she just asked you to tie her to the bed and have sex with her. Not really 'rape', is it.

Alwaysconfused, that's what I was thinking. It'd be sure to put me right off my faggots! :(
Again, I'm the same, I don't really like watching 'normal' sex scenes. Don't know why, it just makes me feel uncomfortable, so this certainly wouldn't be something I'd want to see.

A fundamental ingredient to the offence of rape is non-consent. Ergo the circumstances you describe cannot be rape.

As to whether it's necessary, I think it is impossible to say until I've seen it. Context and content will be significant. I suspect its all rather a bit of a storm in a teacup which will see its ratings go through the roof for this episode.
JTH/ummm........LOL

Madmen......whether it was rape or not was not my point.......I am quoting verbatim, what she actually said, the words were hers NOT mine.

JTH/ummm.......I am telling how it was told to me.......are you saying that I am lying?
sqad, go put the kettle on , :0
No, I'm not saying you're lying but you know yourself that it isn't rape.
