What about the Chain saw massacre?
I see dead people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm like you phleb and can't think of one that really scared me witless. I do jump at unexpected things tho', as I expect most people do.

Just looked at the Horror channel on Sky and Paranormal Activity 4 is on, which is for me, a non-event, then The Exorcist is on after PA4. Lovely.

tony - did you ever watch Bambi? That was a very very very very very sad movie.
Yeah I watched Bambi, made me cry !.
For real horror there were the Chucky films . . . .
I love them too, phleb, but having been brought up on them, since i was about 8, i never find any of them scary. Will look for that "Premature Burial" maybe. I haven't seen that. Prefer the psychological ones to the gory ones. Some i quite liked were- Drag me to Hell, Shutter, Insidious, Orphanage, One Last Call and The Eye.
I Spit On Your Grave, brilliant, She definitely got revenge.

'When a Stranger Calls' - an old film - but unforgettable. No violence, no gore, no blood - but the very thought of it still gives me the creeps.
Also, the book, "Before I go to Sleep" made my blood run cold in places.
I really love a good horror film, they don't scare me at all (they aren't real) the one that springs to mind that made me hide behind a cushion was Amityville Horror.
I thought 'Carrie' was good.
What Lies Beneath was a real chiller. Hitchcock's The Birds and Psycho scared me witless.
'The Night Of The Hunter' staring Robert Mitchum.
'The Fog' if it happens to be foggy outside.
My friend Lucy says Rosemarys Baby, gulp!!!!
