I mean they only seem to have three subjects that they seem to find amusing, Trump, Boris and brexit. What are they going to do now, these right on comedians that infest the BBC and Channel 4? Perhaps they should try and broaden their appeal outside their London centric narrow virtue signalling view point and start actually making the rest of the country laugh.

Emmie I don't think it's anything do to with north/south, I'm a southerner and I find both Peter Kay and Victoria Wood very funny, Dinnerladies and Car Share being two of my favourite programmes.
I can see why Emmie raised her eyebrows at Omid Djalili being described as a comedian.
Some used to say Bernard Manning was a lovely man.
I saw him interviewed once and he came across as thoroughly obnoxious
I’m now going to retell a true story about Ken Dodd I’ve always found nearly as funny as the man himself.
Some bloke went for a job interview with the head of a department or company: the thing seemed to have gone quite well and noticing a familiar picture behind the boss’s desk this chap struck up an informal conversation:
“I see you are a fan of Ken Dodd too”
“Pardon?”
“The picture of Doddy behind you.”
“That happens to be my wife”

No job ...
No, didn't like Omid much, Sarah Millican can take or leave, mostly leave these days, besides you don't see much of her on the TV.
I missed out Victoria Wood, wonderful comedienne, Dinner Ladies a favourite.
As to the odious Bernard Manning, enough said.
// didn't like Omid much \\. So you liked him a bit then Em? Hurrah.
It takes all sorts. I expect there are even some people who don't like Victoria Wood amazing as that may seem;-)
The old comedians, Eric & Ernie, the Two Ronnies, are my favourites. Funny without offending anyone and it doesn’t matter how often I see their sketches, I still laugh. I don’t like smart-ass political comedians nor those, like Billy Connelly, who depend upon bad language for laughs. It might be ‘right on’ to like them but they put me right off. I didn’t like Victoria Wood either. Of the current day comedians, I like Lee Mack because like the golden oldies, he’s just plain daft - and daft always makes me laugh.
if you see Billy early on, well at least on TV he didn't use bad language, perhaps he did in live shows, but I still find him funny,
I still love The Vicar of Dibley, because it was a wonderful ensemble of very funny people, not just Dawn French. And whilst we are there
who finds her Ex husband funny, Lenny Henry...not a chance
Well I agree with all of them naomi, but I do like Connelly.

Dave50, you are aware that the right wing comedians still have a platform yes? Its just not very popular, funny or interesting, so the platform is very very very very very very small to a very very very very very very niche audience.
some of Eric and Ernie sketches have survived the test of time, some haven't, i don't laugh at Porridge, the newer Open all Hours any longer because they just seem dated.
Roger LLoyd-Pack wasn't a comedian as such but, my goodness me, he was funny.
I like Lee Mack on game shows, where he can ad lib freely, he doesn't come across well when heavily scripted like in Not Going Out.
so he was, brilliant man with a dead pan humour.
I find the comedy now generally much better than it used to be. Maybe I have a warped sense of humour... love Jimmy Carr, Dara O'Briain, Michael McIntryre, but also things like HIGNFY and Mock the Week. Satire is clearly my thing...
i watched a Sky arts profile of the Marx Brothers, who were anarchic and one off's, I did laugh out loud at their antics.
There have been some on here who have said they find Trump amusing, to a degree a sort of comedian, so would those ones even know how to rate a comedian?
I think comedy disappeared at the turn of the century, everybody takes life too seriously now.
no they don't. And even if they did, you have to admit with wars in many parts of the world, Covid rife, and endless news casts of disasters, it's hard sometimes to keep it in perspective.
I agree with you, bluemoon. PC has a lot to answer for.
