I liked the Vicar of Dibley but if I watch comedy I don’t want to be reminded of Covid, BLM, the ridiculous 'woke' ritual of 'Taking the Knee', or any of the other rubbish we’ve had to endure throughout this awful year. I want to be entertained - so I won’t be watching.

As the wife of a black man she suffered an appalling amount of racist abuse much of it specifically because she had married a black man.
Although she and Lenny Henry have been divorced for some years, she is still the mother of a mixed-race daughter, and is well-placed to understand, and shine a light on, the difficulties her daughter has faced, or will face.

Perhaps her 'real-life' perspective will inform what Geraldine Granger has to say?
I am with Ken on this one.
I shall be watching it, recording
Have just had a look on YouTube and it seems she has recorded 3 x 10 minute sketches which will be tagged onto the end of previous shows.
Three special 10-minute episodes of the Vicar of Dibley have been filmed to be tagged on to the end of old episodes that are set to be repeated on the BBC in the run up to Christmas. The three episodes are then due to be cut into one 30-minute episode which will also air over the festive season.

Written by co-creators Richard Curtis and Paul Mayhew-Archer, the new episodes are due to include classic Dibley characters, with Geraldine giving zoom sermons.

A tribute to Emma Chambers, who played Alice Tinker but sadly died in February 2018, is also included in the special episodes.
I may record the one with the tribute. Very sad when she died.
Back in the mists of time (well, early 70's to be honest) i bought the Stones album, Goats Head Soup. I bought the album despite knowing full well there was a track on it which i absolutely detested. I took a screwdriver to the album and scratched out the track in question so each time i played that particular side, the needle slid over the ruined section and on to the next song. Just sayin' :-/
I will be watching it and can fully understand why DF is covering this subject

Definitely watching the tribute to Emma Chambers ,such a good part she took Alice Tinker, same as Roger Lloyd Pack another brilliant actor
I liked the show a lot when it was first aired,
yes they were..
jth: Surely everyone is opposed to racial discrimination & would sympathise with DF & her daughter if they have suffered it, but it appears that she, & the producers of this programme are actually giving support to a political Marxist organisation with an agenda which reaches far beyond trying to point out the problems faced by some people.
Many organisations (such as NIKE) having begun by giving support to BLM, have now quietly withdrawn it having understood the objectives of these people.
They could have got their message of anti racism
across in other ways, not subservience. Disgraceful.
I was looking forward to a bit of light Christmas comedy on the lines of the old V of D. However, that is not to be and I won’t be watching.
I shall now try to watch and only then will I comment on how it is handled.

^ but of course :0)
Khandro - Stating, and believing, that Black Lives Matter is *not* the same as giving support to the organisation BLM. The fact that they share the name is unfortunate.
I believe that black lives matter....too; which was the original force behind the discontent. BLM are an organisation much to be condemned and I don't think Dawn French would give them her support.
// Bobbisox1 Question Author It's the constant ramming it down our throats Apc, I believe this to be having an opposite effect rather than the desired one//

I am with you and Sqad on this.
anyone reading this can see that it is not having the desired effect. However, we a but a small subsection of the community, so who knows on a more wider context.
It's a shame that people would do themselves out of watching a program they like because of something they "might" get offended about, but there's no accounting for people :)
If the powers that be would just get rid of the toxic BLM logo that stands for everything Khandro has said we could start to move on.
Things will only escalate when all the fans are let into football grounds.

They should get behind the 'No Room For Racism' message that isn't tainted by the antics of the supporters of BLM.
jth: None of us have of course, seen this episode, so whether it is supporting racial discrimination or the political Marxist organisation of BLM we don't know, but as there's a bit of a furore going on already, I would not be surprised if there wasn't a bit of judicial editing done before broadcast. On the other hand it is the present woke BBC , so we shall see.

I won't be watching anyway, not because of this, but it isn't & never was my cup of tea.
