Seems now it's compulsory for ads to be all black or mixed. Far too much as the black population is only 2% in the UK.call me white and privaldge I don't care

What I have a problem with is not being thought of as being able to make my own mind up. I don't need advertisers jumping on the woke bandwagon and to be honest I feel sorry for any white heterosexual actors attending auditions - they are surely on a hiding to nothing while producers/directors are only choosing people because of their ethnicity or preferences.
Barsel:
I'm happy to agree that the figures might not be entirely accurate but Espresso125 seems to believe that BAME communities only make up a very small proportion of the UK population. My figures suggest that at least 1 in 7 people are 'non-white', while you're apparently suggesting that the proportion might actually be higher. So neither of us appear to be agreeing with Espresso125.
I've recently been pleased to see that many advertisers are now including people with disabilities in their output (e.g. wheelchair users or children with learning difficulties). I wonder how long it will be before we see a post from Espresso125 complaining that they're being over-represented on TV?

Even if it is 1 in 7 I'd say the proportion of ads in say an hour's programme that feature mixed race or black representation is 5 in 7. At least have the honesty to say yes they are massively over-represented but that's good ja?
What's slightly amusing is it's primarily 'white privileged' people who think this is so right on.

I suppose you prefer the old ads were women were portrayed as housewives thrilled to receive a Hoover vacuum cleaner as a Christmas present or a sex mad floozie chasing after men wearing Hai Karate.
I never knew any real women like that, either.
I have mixed race couples in my family and have mixed race grandchildren. Very beautiful, lovely human beings they are, too.

Have any of you anti-wokers done counts of the number of posh characters on adverts, or handsome characters, or ugly characters, or lef-handers, or sick people, or bouncy happy people? You seem to have an antenna tuned to skin colour, which makes your hair bristle and your BP go up if you detect any incoming...
Lordy...what on earth has an award for a black dance group have to do with race/colour/diversity in advertising?
I'd rather see diversity go a bit far than be too little...it will settle over time, but it's still a bit *new* and advertisers are probably trying to make sure they are not accused of not being inclusive.
Of my immediate family...7 individuals...4 are non white. I'm sure they'd all be happy with the current level of representation.
