Course it is. But the answer given was a good attempt given there's square based pyramids, triangular based pyramid, pentagon based pyramids..  despite what TTT says

Not so. From wikipedia: "The base of a pyramid can be trilateral, quadrilateral, or of any polygon shape.", and, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_(geometry), "In geometry, a pyramid ...is a polyhedron formed by connecting a polygonal base and a point...".

Neither of these definitions allows for a cone to be called a "circle-based pyramid", although it's not entirely implausible: cones and pyramids have the same formula for their volume, and in a certain sense, the cone is the limit of a pyramid with a polygon whose number of sides tends to infinity. (This is probably not strictly accurate, because limits can be fiddly, but it's at least "loosely" correct.)

Oh, look, another case where TTT's "end of" merely shows how little care he took to check his position.

To be fair to TTT though clare cone is clearly the best answer and I feel a cone isn't really a pyramid as I'm not sure it has a true vertex...but to mock someone for coming up with a reasonable attempt, even if incorrect, seems very odd to me.

A cone has an apex, which is another word for "vertex", so it very much does have a true vertex. 

I don't dispute that the answer "circle-based pyramid" is weird, and wrong, but it's not a stupid answer, and part of TTT's motivation for thinking it was is also demonstrably wrong.

it's like those Dumb Britain snippets Private Eye regularly runs from quiz shows. I've written in a few times to point to answers that may have been wrong but weren't dumb at all, they were sensible but inaccurate.

Having actually been there I can tell all you scoffers that when under the spotight your mind can play tricks on you. Anyone in a sweat about an answer may just latch on to a couple of worda and say the wrong thing, so be more lenient!
