By that I mean, heat transfer is always dependent on the differential of temperatures, is it not? Therefore, any difference in the temperature of the two amounts of water added to ice will more quickly melt the ice. If a small amount of water at, say 60 degrees F, is added to any quantitiy of ice, the resultant rate of melting will be quantifiably greater than any amount of water added whose temeprature is lower than 60 degrees F. I believe this is required by Fourier's Law and its attendant equation for conductive transfer... (Good to see you again, by the way!)...
