I Just Don't Get It!

Various aspects of modern film and TV pass me by completely. The 'talent' of Michael Barrymore, the 'humour' of Bo Selecta!, the 'acting' of Hugh Grant, the 'wonderfulness' of 'Lost In Translation', and i could go on all day. So what apparently popular figure or film leaves you completely at a loss to understand their popularity?

I NEVER got what was so fabby about the Smiths...ditto Morrissey. Never liked Red Dwarf...it just didn't make me laugh. I just cannot for the life of me understand why folk think Justin Timberlake is in any way sexy (tho he is slightly less grotesque now he's got rid of his 'pubes for hair' doo). And finally HOW in gods name did Cameron the Weirdo win BB4??? Who actually liked that creepy, simpering plank enough to vote for him???? I think my list could go on adn I can also list things that I can't believe aren't mroe popular (eg why did Fox stop making Family Guy??)......but I'll stop for now! Good question!
The first that spring to mind from a very long list: Donnie Darko, Big Brother (or any other reality TV show), The Darkness, Terry Pratchett, R 'n' B, Football/virtually any sport, Michael Jackson, Red Dwarf, Jordan, fad diets, Last of the Summer Wine, anything by Carla Lane (especially "Bread"), Only Fools and Horses, Goodnight Sweetheart, Robbie Williams, Nicholas Lyndhurst, the Beckhams, Lady Di/most of the Royal family, The Royle Family, Tom Cruise's grin. Gotta go, but there's more...
Thank God... I thought it was just me (Well, thank Andy really..) Top of a long, long list: Hugh Grant - all the acting range of a Woodentop, but the lifestyle of a Monaco playboy; Tom Cruise - widely reputed to be an obsessive and unhinged control freak whose one and only really great film is the one that sank without trace (The Firm); and of course, The Matrix times three - literally, the same ludicrous film three times over, for three times the income. Ohhh.. and LeMarchand's complete range of British TV as above - spot on, mate..!
"The Office" and "League of Gentlemen". They were both hyped up by lots of publicity even before they started. In both cases, I watched the first episode to see what it was like, and found nothing funny or amusing. In both cases, I then watched the second episode to see why there had been a fuss about the first episode, thinking perhaps that I had been in the wrong mood at the time. I have never watched either since.
totally agree that bo selecta is rubbish I always thought that an impressionist should look slightly like or sound like the character, that avid merrion does neither, who are the weirdos that watch it,also dont get crappy stuff like buffy, charmed and angel and a film called memento with guy pearce that used to be in neighbours, did anyone see it or more to the point understand it?
You've been framed, God how many times have you got to watch someone getting wacked in the nuts with a tennis ball, Big Brother, utter crap, the Sci-Fi channel, which used to be good, but is utter pants now, I'm Famous and I'm Frightened hahahaha, so where we, having to watch z-grade getting ******, Through The Keyhole, because who really wants to see inside Christopher Biggins' house, now that's scary.
