Why did he need for this obvious racist insult to be pointed out to him?

Lucky Donald Trump or Tommy Robinson didn't do it. No rubbers on ends of pencils would have erased that!

I don't believe Danny Baker is either a racist, or malicious, or stupid.
However, on this occasion, his behaviour was stupid, and I am surprised at him, not just because of the questionable aspect of likening a baby from a mixed-race mother with a chimp, but because, even if both parents were white, it's a tasteless 'joke' anyway.
I think it was a stupid mistake, but people make mistakes, that's why they put rubbers on the end of pencils, so let's not get hysterical, I don't believe it is a sacking offence, in spite of what the twitface brigade say - they'll be outraged by something else tomorrow.

I think a standard reaction, when someone is embarrassed to find that what they thought was humorous has caused offence, is to try and make light of it.
I do not believe that was appropriate in this case - Mr Baker should have apologised sincerely and not tried to make a further joke out of the reaction - a second piece of poor judgement to go with the first.

// Danny Baker is an intelligent humorous person who has misjudged something //
Many would question that statement. I've only ever seen him on scripted quiz shows & like Danny Dyer he hangs on his 'geezer' East End roots. Not a funny man in my opinion and if he's that intelligent he should have realised the connotations of posting that picture. One can only imagine the backlash had Farage or Robinson posted it.......
