I can't drive yet, well I can drive but not on the road, so I bought my car as an investment XJS-C.
For my driving car I'm going for a pre 1960 Morris Minor, tax exempt , MOT exempt and very, very cheap to buy, insure and repair, plus I like funky things.
Because I quite like how they look, also pressure lol from my youngest daughter c'us she likes them although she can't drive just yet she has her driving test next month, maybe she thinks I'll let her drive it if she passes !.

That's when your Bank Balance starts going down Tony lol lol
It has no clutch and is quite high off the ground (I have arthritis in my left knee), is cheap to run (£20 road tax) and is great in the summer (soft top).
I am 50, have had 200+ driving lessons and have given up learning how to drive.

I would have liked a purple car that was easy to park and was a hatchback or maybe an estate. Maybe a strong pink colour. One that the roof folds down for the two days of summer that we get.

Wolf, I would not give up after spending that amount of money, change instructors, it seems they are not helping you, go for it & tell yourself, this is not going to beat me.
Sorry to burst your bubble, kvalidir, but the "Moggy Thou" is not exempt from MOT. I don't think any age of car is MOT exempt.
A good one will cost you anything from £5,000 £10,000 so not that cheap either. Slow, noisy, high fuel consumption, unreliable compared to modern cars. They are more of a toy than an everyday car.

I kind of inherited the Beemer, when the best deal was to trade in my Audi Avant for the Yeti 4x4 my OH now drives, The VRs Estate was bought as a dog-carrier, it was just sheer luck it had the 220 bhp unit in it (honest Guv), thinking of moving the Beemer on, but it's still a lot of fun, although the VRs is quicker.
TWR ~ I lost interest years ago. I take drugs that make me dopey and my brain doesn't work too well so it is perhaps safer for you lot if I stay off the road.

I live in the city centre so have no real need for a car.

However ~ the lottery fairy might visit me one day and I will employ a chauffeur to drive me around. I hope that doesn't cause me to be too carsick.

Citroen C3 Picasso. We're on our second one after a C4 Grande Picasso, Xsara Picasso and a Xantia.
It's easy to drive, easy to get a slightly decrepit carcass in and out of and very economical. :-)
Graham, all cars prior to 1960 are MOT exempt as are all cars less than 3 years old.
I bought a lime green Tigra I loved. The ....kin OH gave it to his barmaid gf!!!!!
was looking to change and saw ( picture , left) this car, ticked all the boxes, air con, leather seats, electric windows, electric heated mirrors and low mileage, oh did I mention the air con?
Size and versatility, we have a Vauxhall Zafira, its perfect for what we want, seven seats if we need them and plenty of room for the dogs.

My MGTF was on the point of succumbing to the dreaded head gasket failure and we needed something bigger to carry the grandkids around so we bought a Jetta, good price, 60mpg on a long run, cavernous boot.
I was so upset though that I refused to go and hand my "baby" over, stayed in bed and wept most of the day!
recommended in several magazines, economical, reasonably reliable, big enough to be comfortable and internally quiet. Not at all exciting to drive as it does what is expected of it.
I had a Fiat Punto on loan while my then car was in the garage - I loved it so much, I bought it from the dealer, and loved it until it was destroyed by a National Express coach's driver who doesn't know not to overtake a car that is turning right!

I got a next-model Punto to replace it, which I have had for twelve years, and my next car will be a late-model Punto which I will have sprayed Fiat Yellow because I think it is a gorgeous colour, and it will be easier for me to find in the car-parks of music festivals!
