Can you think of any case where a foreign Gov has been refused co-operation by the Brit Gov on a missing child case.

I really cannot see that it would be right for the government to add to the funds the Mc Canns have raised in the search only for their daughter! They should not be given special treatment as there are so many other families whose children / loved ones have gone missing and these families have not had any financial support!! There are excellent charities that work very hard to find missing children and adults and to me this is where any government money to help find missing people should go. It is wrong to single the Mc Canns out and give them preferencial treatment, in whatever way. I do sympathise with them, but I am not sure they have gone about things in the right way. I do not agree with Kate McCann, that the government should take some responsibility in finding their missing daughter. It is either a bad choice of wording or a case of trying to push the responsability on to others, when it is actually the Portuguese Police and hence the Portuguese government who are responsible for finding little Maddy. Yes, as parents we want to pull out all the stops when something happens to our children, but I think Kate McCann needs to be a bit careful not to alienate people with her attitude and wording. But like her, I would never give up searching for my child.
My hope in this case is that one day Maddie may be found. My hope is that other children caught up in a similar situation may one day be found.
I fear that my hopes may not be realised, and, if this is the case, I hope these children will eventually find peace, either in this world or the next.
I have one other hope.....that the other McCann children are allowed to live their own lives in peace.

Kate McCann is certainly doing her utmost to find Madeleine and is being very proactive in her search for her missing daughter. Other parents who have lived through similar experiences have relied entirely upon Police investigations. Kate is simply asking the police to assist in the search in anyway they can. Any mother would do the same. Madeleine is still missing and she needs to be found.
If access to evidence in any case is being prevented from being seen then it is reasonable for authorities to apply whatever influence they have to solve the problem. But I've said it before and may well do again, this family is not more important than all the others who have suffered tragedy. I don't see why this particular family's demands are hyped again and again as if they were more important than everyone else. Crimes get investigated and eventually reach the stage where they are relying on someone coming forward. One can not spend forever on any particular one. If authorities did this one would be in the waiting list, since we've not caught Jack the Ripper yet. And yes I can see the irony in contributing to yet another a thread on this subject.
