So , Kate McCann ( on publication of her book ) is calling upon David Cameron , for the government to '' take some responsibility '' in finding their missing daughter .
Is her choice of words reasonable , in the circumstances ?

Sorry - Shortplanks - can't agree with that. If they had been less middle class or a single parent etc they would have had social services involved in the other two children's lives and would probably not have them now.
But it is the press that have kept the Maddie thing going, as well as the Mccanns.
Its sad, but these storys (and I am sure based on station and looks) are cherry picked.
But as far as the original question is concerned - I think it is a very bad choice of words. using the word 'responsibility' is going to get this sort of reaction.

JJ..You mean like British Police Forced.
1) identify a terror suspect.
2) follow and identify his contacts.
3) Plan to apprehend said terrorist.
4) Chase him into the London Underground.
5) Shoot him several times in the head to make sure he is dead.
6) Find out that he is the wrong man.
7) Try and cover up their ill fated modus operandi.
Yepp......the UK Police standout as an example of true efficiency....unlike those "foreigners.

You provided me with that little glimpse into your private life....no point in getting all offended over it.
And the sneering tone of your previous, and subsequent, comments shows exactly why I responded in a similar manner.
Your desire for the truth is obscured by your equal desire to see all guilt laid squarely at the door of the McCanns.

// The McCanns have asked for help from the British Government. If any other family in their situation want similar help, let them flipping well ask for it. If you don't ask, you don't get - don't persecute the McCanns for asking.//
Yes - but other families have asked our govenment for assistance in the past ( including the lady whose son went missing on the Greek Island ) and from what she said the government doesn't appear to have been stirred into action , compared to the McCanns's case ,given Camerons intimation in his response so far .
One can be forgiven for thinking that if they weren't who they are , then things would be different
The phrase '' take some responsibility '' is what some folk might have a problem with .

I think it's a perfectly reasonable choice of words.
Had that investigation taken place on British soil it would have been held up and shown to be the utter farce that it was.
I think it is entirely reasonable to ask 'your' government to intercede, with a foreign government, on your behalf and take up the responsibility of doing so.
I suppose it depends upon your definition of the word 'responsibility' in this case.
