So , Kate McCann ( on publication of her book ) is calling upon David Cameron , for the government to '' take some responsibility '' in finding their missing daughter .
Is her choice of words reasonable , in the circumstances ?

No, it doesn't.
It's very probably a decision I wouldn't have made............or I might.
It is only with hindsight that the enormity of the impact which *that* decision had can be fully realised.
I believe that price they have paid and will continue to pay, in the privacy of their own heads and souls, far out-weighs any of the vindictive, holier-than-thou malice they encounter on a daily basis,or is heaped on their heads on forums like this.
The thing that is of the utmost importance and which keeps becoming obscured by all the invective and criticism is that a young child is missing and 'everyone' has a human duty to Madeline to assist in her rescue or recovery.

I agree with you entirely. The only issue is how long the government has to keep on at this. Hundreds of kids get killed every day but we don't keep on about it - we may investigate it and see how we can improve things but in my opinion this has gone on way too long and got too much exposure compared to all the other tragedies that happen every day.
A Scotland Yard "taskforce" was offered to the Portuguese Police in the days after Madeleine went missing - the Portuguese turned it down. They are not spending extra resources now - just the resources they would have spend in the first place.
Had the original offer been accepted, maybe this case would have been solved a long time ago.

Why not face facts - unless the answer is right under their noses and so obvious they can't miss it - the police in every country muddle through the best they can, just like the rest of us. Life is not like films, books, or tv series where the miracle detective finds out easily what the answer is in spite of all the difficulties that arise. Life is often ugly and obscure. There are only two answers - she is either dead or has been abducted. Whichever it is, it is too late to find her now.

All 3 of the examples I gave were subjected to sexual abuse for the entire time they were missing. What if Madeleine is suffering in the same way? Surely we'd owe it to any child to put that to and end, regardless of who the parents are.
There is every chance Madeleine McCann is still alive. There's as much chance of finding her as finding any missing person - and missing people are found every day.
