Hello everyone,

The news section is always fraught with fierce debate and personal opinion. I try my best to let threads run their course so that people can debate like reasonable adults.

The anonymous nature of the internet tends to bring out the worst in people, but I believe that the majority of AnswerBank users are above that.

Please don't abuse my trust in letting a thread run its course by turning it into a slanging match, otherwise we'll have to be much harsher in our judgements when it comes to post removals and suspensions.

Thanks,

Ed.

Ed....I hope you can trust me on this one.......There are occasions when the News Section becomes like Chatterbank....a section which regularly I peruse but refrain from commenting therein.

Ron.
Is this an answer for DTCrosswordfan or have I missed something else?

What's that supposed to mean Ron?

"There are occasions when the News Section becomes like Chatterbank...." 'm quite offended by that remark. It's somehow beneath you to post on that category, yet you can't help but look in on it? Hmmmmm!

lol@suspensions- come on Ed certain people on here are treated diffrently than the rest you know it!
^^^ ditto ^^^
Why not create a section where anything goes and see what happens?
I have money on this thread becoming a slanging match and a little side bet on a thread about this thread ;)
You are talking absolute sh1te cazzz1975

Harsher in judging when it comes to post removals and suspensions?

How about this for an idea Ed? Three strikes and you're out. When you've been suspended three times, that's it....you're banned. I bet that'd make peeps think twice about flouting the rules.
i believe bernie, has a valid point !
Can see why Ed's done this post, the news category got pretty infantile this afternoon, however I'm still quite offended that some people think CB is inhabited by morons, well ok, Triggs s in there, but the rest of us are ok, well, some of us, ok, ok ok...a few people.

And c'mon, call a spade a shovel eh? Don't hide behind "some are treated better than others" gumph, why not say who you're referring to?
Why not have one section where anybody can say anything to anybody and there will be no repocutions. All other sections will have the exisiting rules. So if you dont want to take part in a slanging match you dont have to.
A fair point Ed.

Speaking as someone who has some pretty fierce debates on this section, I hope that for my part i have argued my points without recourse to personal abuse - wtih one exception a couple of months ago, for which i apologised, and for which my apology was duly accepted.
That's the problem BOO...some can and some can't
because every argument will spill over into all the other topic area's, manifesting itself into bitchy comments and hissy fits
Because it wouldn't stay in one section. it's been proven too many times on here that people drag arguments all over the site.

How about another idea, if you want to *** somebody off, turn your computer off and walk away.
come on then bernie and anne, get it off your chest..
