The news section is always fraught with fierce debate and personal opinion. I try my best to let threads run their course so that people can debate like reasonable adults.
The anonymous nature of the internet tends to bring out the worst in people, but I believe that the majority of AnswerBank users are above that.
Please don't abuse my trust in letting a thread run its course by turning it into a slanging match, otherwise we'll have to be much harsher in our judgements when it comes to post removals and suspensions.
Ed....I hope you can trust me on this one.......There are occasions when the News Section becomes like Chatterbank....a section which regularly I peruse but refrain from commenting therein.
"There are occasions when the News Section becomes like Chatterbank...." 'm quite offended by that remark. It's somehow beneath you to post on that category, yet you can't help but look in on it? Hmmmmm!
Harsher in judging when it comes to post removals and suspensions?
How about this for an idea Ed? Three strikes and you're out. When you've been suspended three times, that's it....you're banned. I bet that'd make peeps think twice about flouting the rules.
Can see why Ed's done this post, the news category got pretty infantile this afternoon, however I'm still quite offended that some people think CB is inhabited by morons, well ok, Triggs s in there, but the rest of us are ok, well, some of us, ok, ok ok...a few people.
And c'mon, call a spade a shovel eh? Don't hide behind "some are treated better than others" gumph, why not say who you're referring to?
Why not have one section where anybody can say anything to anybody and there will be no repocutions. All other sections will have the exisiting rules. So if you dont want to take part in a slanging match you dont have to.
Speaking as someone who has some pretty fierce debates on this section, I hope that for my part i have argued my points without recourse to personal abuse - wtih one exception a couple of months ago, for which i apologised, and for which my apology was duly accepted.
