Gay activities on TV
Why is it necessary to whow it? It can't be vital to the story? OK Sp points out below that there was an "uproar" over a gay bedroom scene. My question is, why must we have it on TV soaps at all. We all know about bandit bedroom activities, why is it vital to show it in TV before the watershed? come to that why are soaps exempt from normal watershed rules anyway?

doc i think you are being deliberately provocative with your 'bestiality' notion -
homosexuality is a fact, like it or not, and there is a valid argument for including it in soaps. It is a legal expression of affection which most (not all, hence the debate) people increasingluy have no problem in accepting.
The two side issues you suggest are serious social tabboos, as well as being illegal, so there is no comparison and your argument evaporates.

the thing is andy being gay was illegal not to long ago and some people think that the way things are going in this country other things that are illegal now may be legal in the future

And you were happy to put your own hand up when I asked, " I don't think it's any accident that some people insist on linking homosexuality to bestiality and necrophilia.........do you ?"
It may have been O_G who mentioned the words first, but you showed yourself happy to be associated with the sentiment..........

'Eventually homophobia will be a thing of the past'
It will last as long as Doc is alive
I must admit to being the same age as Doc. My parents were approximately 30 years older than me and they had no problem with homosexuality, neither did my grandparents!! Perhaps it is upbringing that makes you who you are. I am thankful for my upbringing.

My apologies doc - I meant to direct my post to Old Geezer.
However, while I have your attention - I hope that your view about your 'level of disgust' is in a seriously small and soon to be eradicated minority - a blinkered and nasty view like that has no place in a civilised society.
And before you reply with your 'right to your opinion' - you have a right to shout 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre, that doesn't make it an appropriate action.

Homosexuality was decriminalised nearly half a century ago - not THAT recent!
In the past decade or so, society has changed so fundamentally, that to exclude the representation of gay/lesbian relationships in soaps would actually look strange.
More and more straight people either know 'out' gay people either at work, as friends or in their families, that old social taboos are beginning to erode, in the same way that we view bi-racial relationships.
For example - did you know that there was an episode of Star Trek that wa banned for years in the US, because it featured a kiss between Captan Kirk (white
