It's official /// More than half believe homosexual marriages should not be allowed and two thirds think the adoption of children by same-sex couples should not have become legal nine years ago.///

/// the ONS findings show many Britons still cling to conservative values ///

Er, excuse me but "clinging to conservative values" ?????

Don't they term it as being 'Homophobic on Answerbank?

Oooh so it does. Righto.
Stand back ladies. George is mine...... I can say without fear of contraception, that he is thinking of asking me over for the weekend. On the matter of homsexual marriages, I have nothing against homosexual people being together sharing their lives, but having two fathers or two mothers is not the way to go. Why burden children with hangups like that? Marriage is for heterosexual people who want to spend their lives together and procreate. Marriage is the means of having your children born in wedlock as the Bible commands, thereby not being called little b*stards and meaning it. Why are people trying to normalise something that is obviously not acceptable to the majority of society. Why bother. Uuuman Rights again?
Could be a lot worse askyourgran they could be Liverpool fans
AYG - If you had bothered to read the statistical analysis, you'd have seen that the 'majority' do NOT actually believe that.

Anyhoo, shortly I hope, I too will be able to marry my partner.....and I suspect my very-well adjusted son will be playing a substantial part.
worse still they could be moron utd fans....oops man united
Good for you JTH. Congratulations.
Thank you ladybirder, I too am fed up of being lumped as old and therefore out of date, old-fashioned, not accepting of change etc.
I and none of my friends of my age are homophobic, indeed I don't think I know anyone who is (or they hide it very well)
I'm not against gay marriages but I just cannot understand why gay couples want to marry. As ayg says marriage is the union of a man and a woman so why be bothered, I think the civil partnership coveres the legal inequalities (and not before time)
Thankyou, ladybirder. :o)
True reefer. They might be as well as.... :-)
What harm does Mrs Jack and Mrs Jack do to you, You can still live your lives the way you want so let them live theirs.
Best of luck JTH!! way to go!!!
I've got a hat Jack....................
:D
We've got about 4 years to save up......and it'll take me that long to decide what to wear.
lol good luck.............I'd have a crappy cheap wedding and a fantastic honeymoon.
I shall keep you all informed........:o)

I bet that prospect will fill certain posters with a surfeit of joy.........LoL
JTH I couldn't be bothered to wade through all that 'statistical analysis' statistics are not the be all and end all of anything. I have nothing against homosexual people. I have several friends who are but I cannot see why a marriage ceremony will make it any better. Marriage legalises a child's birth imho, and for a heterosexual couple the vows are set in the Holy Books. I have yet to see a religious ceremony which follows the Bible's teaching for same sex marriage.
Ah, the Bumper Book of Fairytales........the one book which *everyone* lives their lives by.....?
Obviously not the one you want to be married by.
ayg the proposed law on weddings makes them a purely civil matter, it in fact states it will be illegal to marry in church.
Live and let live. Good luck JTH!
