Saudi Woman To Be Lashed For Driving
http://www.bbc.co.uk/...-middle-east-15079620
Only 10? It'll take more than that to instill decent driving skills into her.....!
Seriously, how can their government give Saudi women the right to vote yet continue to enforce such draconian laws?

Naomi, i dislike the burkha, and have never made a secret of that fact, but i had so many on here who said well it's their choice, and so forth, it became quite a heated debate, as these things do, So why in any western society choose to wear one, if you haven't family pressure, parental control, to say wear it
Em, as I said, it's become a political symbol.
rowan, demands for an end to the subjugation of women should come from everyone - not just women. In actual fact, in my opinion, apart from the men who make the rules, the worst enemies of those who live an enforced life of separation from the rest of humanity are the women who choose to hide themselves from the world.

I think there may be several reasons why some women wear burqas
When I've seen some women interviewed about muslem dress there has been a bit of competetive faith coming out.
The logic that if it's good to be modest, it's better to wear a scarf and better still to wear a veil etc.
A subtle one upmanship (sic) is religous piety

The reason that I dislike the Burqa so much is because of the threat to this country in allowing 'people' to mingle amongst us who cover their faces. As you are aware there have been instances of terrorist men wearing the Burqa to go about in public unrecognised. If women wish to do this in their own homes fair enough, but I strongly object to it being allowed in public, after all if our government is serious about protecting us all from terrorist threats it should seriously consider banning the wearing of such garments in public places.

Have there? Examples?
Or are you confusing burqas with hoodies :-)
iIf I was an Islamic terrorist (especially a male one) I think the last thing I would do would be dress in a burqa...
