beso they have money set aside for this kind of thing according to a politician on the radio so what you put is wrong
>> Insurance doesn't cover losses from these offences and many shop owners lost everything. They not only lost their livilhood but also their homes that were put up as security for their stock. <<
he was arrested having a bottle of alcohol on him, he was very wrong, it was theft as we know it, but I do feel 4 months for it was not too bad and if it saves one person from learning the ways of being 'inside' and then re offending?
hey, why not give ian huntley a second chance, and just let him out and see if he behaves? that's what would happen if you took "everyone deserves a second chance" to the extreme
Not sorry , you do the crime you do the time , he is lucky that he didn't live somewhere that looters are shot. Poor didums cant sleep i jail , ahhh. What about the staff and the owners , laws are are laws he needs to pay for his transgression and learn that actions have concequenses
His sentence may have been too long but it's about time sentences were too harsh rather than too soft. At least he didn't plead that his cat was missing him.
If the time handed out in court is inappropriate to the crime, then comments about not doing the crime if you can't do the time are equally inappropriate. One could justify any sentencing otherwise. Have his torso pulled into in four by four shire horses, then off with his head and on a pike with it, , and his innards scattered to the four winds. Well he ought not have committed the crime so apparently he has nothing to complain of.
old Geezer , he is guilty , he now has trouble sleeping - hope its his concience ,but bet its just hes sorry he got caught and got a stiff penalty. Judges have to go by guideline ,I assuand dont just pluck random penalties out of the air . Get Real
jno are you saying that its ok to take a bottle of beer from Sainsburys ? we all pay for pilfering . He STOLE something doesnt matter what .He is a thief and a looter and as such should be punished if it was on your doorstep no doubt yoyu would feel differnet.
jno its not what you want its what the law states. Its not just about the stealing either its also about looting and roiting thats why the sentence is what it is
Oh it's real enough even if an exaggerated example is used to make the point.
The reason for him wanting a lighter sentence is surely not the issue. Whether the sentence was appropriate is more to the point.
I don't know what the comments about a Government fund for criminal damage relate to. When I worked in the brewery and people were sentenced to pay compensation for criminal damage, half the time we never saw the money, or got it at 50p a week - it was the individuals who should pay, not a central fund. I honestly don't have any sympathy for this lad being unable to sleep - the sentences were swingeing but the fact remains, he got involved in illegal events, he paid the price.
Do you know why I wasn't arrested on any of the nights upon which the rioting occured?
Or that anyone else in my family wasn't arrested? (notwithstanding Location as a factor)........it's that none of us would have taken it into our minds (at whatever age) to consider it to be any sort of idea, other than a very bad one, to break into a shop into the middle of a riot and steal *anything*....
It is to be regretted that this young fool will have to carry the ignominy of having been banged up for stealing a bottle of beer (how much lower could he have set his sights?) for the remainder of his life but he had a choice of whether to walk away or to carry on with his 'plan'........he made it and now must live with the consequences.
