sorry about that folks
morning :-)
I agree 100%. The sentences handed down were Draconian. I'm sure lots of sentences will be reduced on appeal.
I think many of the sentences given to rioters were far too harsh in the first place.
he should serve his sentence, and behave in future.
8 months was a ridiculously high sentence to give to someone who had stolen a single bottle of alcohol and it was his first offence, even 4 months seems high to me.

I would hope this has given this lad a good shock and now he can make a success of his future
///Penney looted the store with Michael Gillespie-Doyle, 19, as staff cowered in a locked back room.//

Seems 8 months is a reasonable sentence.
I don't think 8 months is too harsh.

Other sentences are too soft.

No what about the victims - what about the staff "cowering in the back room" probably in fear of thier lives. What about the lives. businesses & jobs ruined.
Now diddums can't sleep anyone who appeals should have thier sentence doubled ferrel scum
Who will give the owners of the looted shops a second chance?

Insurance doesn't cover losses from these offences and many shop owners lost everything. They not only lost their livilhood but also their homes that were put up as security for their stock.

I wonder how many then lost their marriages from the stress.

Send the little sh1t to a place where he can see the real cost of this kind of action. Make him meet some of the people he destroyed. He will get a second chance when he is released but he should never be allowed to forget the lives he helped ruin.
the report is from the mail were the staff in the back room or down deansgate having a pint in the pig and porcupine

beso the shops claim from the police who get the money from the government

He had a clear choice that night and made it. Local business owners did not.

Regardless of the length of sentence, as the saying goes:

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.
Sorry, I think he should be made to finish his sentence. If you don't want to do the time, don't do the crime.
DrFilth //the shops claim from the police who get the money from the government //

And the government get the money from ordinary people. Those convicted should be made to pay the costs to society.
