So poorer families are cutting their '5 a day' are they?

Couldn't be they have never been particularly interested in '5 a day' diet could it?

i definitely do eat at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, it's not that hard, say two portions of veg with dinner and three portions of fruit, apple, orange, peach, or fruit of choice, anytime during the day.
some people are quite happy to spend 7 quid a day of cigs though, makes you wonder about their priorities.
em.......and are you healthy?

/// But I attribute the decline not to people deciding eating 5 a day is rubbish as Sqad and AOG suggest, but because prices have risen sharply. ///

Stating untruths yet again, we do not suggest anything like that.

What we do suggest however, is the fact that poorer families tend to go for fast foods burgers and chips, rather than think about their 5-a-day intake.

The price rise of fruit and veg, has nothing to do with it, if these families were interested in their 5-a-day intake, sales would remain steady and the sale of fast foods burgers and chips would suffer a decline.
3 fruit every single day ? I'm not that much of a fanatic. Might manage 1. 2 veg with dinner would work if you cook for yourself, but otherwise ... Personally I'm too shattered to be bothered when i get back from work.
sqad, well i was doing ok till i caught this virus, and so not currently, and have been battling it for 7/8 weeks. I could be eating something that doesn't agree with me and not know it, like people who are allergic to wheat etc, but i do feel that a balanced diet helps to shed the unwanted weight, keeps cholesterol and bp under control and that surely is a good thing. One thing about being obese it can bring on conditions like diabetes, something i don't have thank heavens.
"Who said anything about me seeing someone eating crisps inTesco?"
YOU did aog in your previous post!
"Some of the ones I HAVE SEEN in the Supermarkets, don't appear to be under-fed, in fact some cannot wait to get through the tills before they are munching ontheir purchases.
And strangely enough, these are not apples and pears, but crisps and biscuits"
em...LOL...I was just "winding you up".......forgive me.

The answer lies in the word 'SUPERMARKETS' not a mention of 'IN THEIR SUPERMARKETS' or 'TESCO' even.
If they cooked a lot more at home instead of eating unhealthy foods bought from MacDonalds etc they would have more money for fruit.
If my family had to eat what I learnt to cook at school(back in the dark ages---I still remember steamed fish!!), I think they would leave home. I have noticed that lately both Heinz beans and Heinz tomato soup are advertised as one of your five a day. I wonder what you feel about that Squad?
heinz soups ok as long as it's not the creamed soup variety, or so i was told, so much salt in many of these though and that doesn't help.

A Supermarket is a Supermarket is a Supermarket, you are yet again clutching at straws to make a point.
You can eat healthily and not be any more expensive than junk/packet foods, it takes a bit of planning, and know one end of an egg from another. As i said, how many actually know how to cook, it's half the problem.
