For instance siblings who live together, a parent and child who live together and so on.
btw as I understand it, only marriages performed by C of E clergy who are also registrars, have the force of law in the UK, all other religious marriages have to be (?ratified? supported) by civil registration.

Reading through most of these posts it is apparent that many are prepared to criticise and at times condemn the Christian churches.
These persons do not think twice about mocking and insulting it's clergy or any others who happen to stand up in defence of the Christian church and it's teachings.
Having said that however, these same persons are much less willing to issue similar condemnations and insults upon Islam, and we all know it's attitude towards 'Gays' married or not.

AOG - this could simply be because as a nominally Christian society, we have far more experience of, and are impacted by the Christian church, than by the Muslim faith. I have onlyu ever been in one mosque, but was brought up as a Christian.
If you consider that across an large selection of the population, inlcuding by default a large number of posters on here, youmay find it easier to accept why individuals take issue with the church's stance on gay marriage.
Just a thought.

I just don't think its any church's business to interfere in a civil matter. Any church, Imo, has the right to say. "We will not marry (insert description here) within our church" They are even entitled to have a public view about it and make (politely phrased) public comment.
I wouldn't post on here and mock any organised religion or spokesperson because so many of them do such a good job themselves...and before anyone asks, yes I do believe in god.

So far, we have had no Muslim leaders condemning gay marriage. It's just the Catholics and CofE bishops who have written letters to the Telegraph and been interviewed left, right and centre on this.
We can hardly criticise British Muslim leaders when they've not actually said anything yet, can we?

aog, please be so kind as to identify these 'same persons' who mock, criticise or condemn Christian churches or the clergy thereof, but would not criticise or condemn Muslims. If they are non-Muslims on AB will you name some names for me? And if taken as representative, rather than the specific example of AB, which persons or group of persons are you referring to?
<<prepared to criticise and at times condemn the Christian churches>>
Yes. Because they peddle deluded, dangerous nonsense.

Your link seems a little bias coming from the 'Islamophobia Watch' and documenting anti Muslim bigotry.

I have no idea from what side of the argument this site is, but it seems to give out an entirely different message.

What I was trying to express was that the gay people (or 'gay activists' as the press sometimes like to call any gay person with a point of view) wll argue their case against anyone who publicly denounces homosexuality, or displays open bigotry.
We should not fall into the false assumption that followers of Islam would 'get away with it'.
