Its been known for the police to make up stuff, but in this instance, given some corroboration from the other police officer and, apparently some members of the public within earshot? I think not.

Plus which it is a strange insult to make up - this idea of using the word pleb.

The final nail in Mitchell's coffin was his meeting with police chiefs which was supposed to clear the air but did the opposite. I was surprised the press didn't make more of it. He's either a liar or the police were out to get him
