Utter nonsense. I have always worn short-sleeved shirts, with, and without ties. Most offices in Britain have still to embrace air conditioning and I have always found them to be far too hot and stuffy, winter and summer. There no reason that a chap can't look smart with a short-sleeved shirt, other than old fashioned prejudice. Jeeves still lives it would...

''Whooohooo..Ael.....but you'll still wear a tie I hope...☺''
... black dickie bow if you insist
Mmmm...maybe, Ael...but a tie is more versatile....☺

^Is what I typed til I re-read your post....okay...this I must see...you're on!!!!!
Ah I remember - fingers up..... - hit a bit of a sore spot did it?
...you might need to supply your own scissors, ael ;-)
Shoota! Lol....x
I wonder how many young tie wearers know how to tie a 'Windsor' Knot?
I can do a double Windsor!
People who wear long sleeves end up rolling them up anyway,so whats the difference ?
If you wear a short sleeved shirt, you can't roll them down!
why would you want to? A rolled up unrolled sleeve looks creased and tacky. Short sleeved shirts in the office, with or without a tie, are perfectly acceptable.
Boxtops, why would you want to what?
why would you want to roll down the sleeve on a LS shirt, if you've previously rolled it up? Just wear short!
The point I am making is, with a long sleeved shirt, you have a choice, with a short sleeved one, you don't! I'm not advocating rolling up long sleeves!
One of my neighbours is an airline captain and he looks the business in his short sleeve while shirt, epaulettes and black tie.
