I cant believe that Scottish people would vote for SNP 29% are they completely stupid or something Alex Salmond is a sleazeball manipulative and egotistical where as his sidekick Nicola Sturgeon is desperate for power and completely loves herself. I am Scottish but I am ashamed to be Scottish there is nothing good about this country anymore and I am wondering what hold these two have other voters in my opinion it must be demonic !!

The point about the next UK government being a Con / UKIP coalition is interesting. Whilst I think it unlikely that UKIP's impressive results over the weekend (there's no point in pretending it isn't, however loathsome you may find them!) is unlikely to translate into seats in Westminster, I think it will polarise the next election because I firmly believe that Cameron will tell UKIP's supporters precisely what Thatcher told the National Front in 1979 - "I hear you, but I can't help you unless you vote Tory". And, unless Labour can do something radical about Milliband, I predict an overall Tory majority in 2015 with a Cabinet position for Farage. I also firmly believe that Labour are presently unelectable under Milliband just as they were under Kinnock.

And it's that horror story which I think will just tip the balance in September in favour of the SNP. I think it will be close, but I think they will achieve it.
Wharton, it is not only English who take that view. A lot of Scots agree.

///Alex Salmond has stated that every Scot will be six hundred pounds a year better off with an independent Scotland///

Or at least they would if they move to England to claim benefits.

Not all Scottish people are voting SNP I can assure you that neither myself nor my family are voting that way. :)
"Not all Scottish people are voting SNP"

I believe that is actually quite well known.
I normally don't get involved in political discussions, especially on a site such such as this, but I am disgusted at the puerile postings of some of the contributors here.

I am a Scot, living in Edinburgh, and for the benefit of Jordy ,a Hibernian supporter.

What I hope will happen is that a "yes" vote will be the result, and within a fairly short period, say two years,an election will be held in Scotland, when the people will return a Labour government, which will be able to act in a proper manner, without the present interference of London politicians.

I have said precisely that several times, SirOracle.
latest bookies odds
no vote1/4
yes vote 11/4
if that means anything!
It means nothing, bernie, just like any poll ever published.
that's what i thought although the bookies rarely get it wrong jeffa
sir o..you are very much in the minority of Edinburgh folks, very few of whom have a good word to say about Salmond...the tram fiasco and his wanton spending of tax payers money on his many many jamborees and expensive tastes in entertaining put paid to that !

What is more I worked on the parliamentary bill team in the ministerial suite both here in Edinburgh and in London, sitting in on committee meetings etc within houses of parliament, I was involved in not only policy making but budgeting etc and have more inside knowledge than most in these matters..my comments are very well informed !
I don't believe that the SNP has given much thought to anything that would be affected by independence, other than those which generally get the electorate talking, eg defence, welfare, etc, which the majority don't actually come into contact with. a lot of stuff is just taken for granted; like the railways. here's what is said about Scotland's railways:-
http://www.scotreferendum.com/questions/will-railways-in-an-independent-scotland-be-re-nationalised/
which is fine - except that it conveniently omits the stuff that's in the "too difficult" box, eg, inter-city services to England are provided under franchises let by the Westminster government and over which Scotland doesn't currently have a say. what will the SNP do - make everyone change trains at the border? that doesn't even happen in Europe on journeys that cross several sovereign states.
bill team for devolution ^^^
"that doesn't even happen in Europe on journeys that cross several sovereign states."

LOL! So what on earth makes you think that it would a problem with an independent Scotland?
Murraymints I sincerely hope that you are not a Civil Servant.
"sir o..you are very much in the minority of Edinburgh folks, very few of whom have a good word to say about Salmond"

Edinbugh Central - Marco Biagi (SNP)
Edinburgh Eastern - Kenny MacAskill (SNP)
Edinburgh Northern and Leith - Malcolm Chisholm (Scottish Labour)
Edinburgh Pentlands - Gordon MacDonald (SNP)
Edinburgh Southern - Jim Eadie (SNP)
Edinburgh Western - Colin Keir (SNP)

"my comments are very well informed"

Based on what?
//So what on earth makes you think that it would a problem with an independent Scotland? //

ASLEF believe it's going to be a rather large issue. http://www.aslef.org.uk/files/135280/FileName/ImpactofaseparateScotlandonexistingandfuturecross....pdf
Sorry if this has been said before but...............I will be voting for independence, not Alex Salmond. When Scotland get independence the SNPs job will be over and they will become just another party that the Scots can vote for along with Labour, Cons, Lib Dem etc. IMO the government south of the border is running scared - we are perfectly capable of handling our own affairs.
The first sentence of point 12 sums that up beautifully!
Sir O ..no longer ! lol

Jeffa I base my comments on personal working experience and information gleaned from within those walls, not from the papers or telly....
