Yet another black man killed by a white police officer, and who is later cleared by a Grand Jury, which has again triggered off riots.

The unfortunate victim was a large powerful man, how else could the police officer manage to wrestle him to the ground and thus prevent him from going through the plate glass window of the store?

Yes squad

Non lethal force - man alive
Lethal Force - man dead.

There are a few posters here, attacking the Police for the way they handled a 25 stone 6ft+ aggressor, I would like to think that their criticism is based on some experience, and that they are not armchair warriors whose most aggressive act has been to snap a pencil in a fit of pique, but ... .. .
Have you watched the video?

Agreed........but we are discussing whether death was caused by the "lethal force."

^a thin pencil ;)

Did you see him make a fist?

Did you see him kick out?

Got cut off

divebuddy makes a very valid point.

Police offices frequently have to make snap decisions, and sometimes these decisions lead to the death of someone they are arresting. It's worth noting that all over America right now, officers (of all races) are making snap decisions that save lives. However, we don't get to hear about these stories - they would only be reported locally.

If I were to give advice to people in the U.S. I would say:

1. Don't commit any crimes, no matter how petty

2. If you are stopped by the police, comply with every instruction to the letter

3. If you are arrested, do not resist.

4. If you insist on being black, make sure your height and weight are not above 5'8" and 155lbs, otherwise some will conclude that you are culpable in your death.
The accident being of course that he was strangled to death by half a dozen police officers.
I do not envy any Police Officer their job, dangerous and involving on the spot decisions.

At times restraint must be used if vital to safeguard the officers and or the public.

I retract nothing I have said about this case based on what I have seen.
this man was choked to death,
"Agreed........but we are discussing whether death was caused by the "lethal force."

Well, I for one think that he would be alive if he was not strangled to death.

Yes the video is completely none bias, "the public execution of one of our brothers by the dirty police"
Has there been a post mortem?

If so, do we know the "cause of death?"
The video does not lie AOG, have you watched it?, he may be big but he did not swing a punch, he did not aim a kick. He hardly resisted arrest and he is dead.
was death caused by lethal force............ yes.

I was just about to tag you for the best answer, then you had to spoil things by your rather silly no. 4 point.

Wow that would have been some feat the hands or arms of half a dozen police officers around one man's neck.

Watched the Video a couple of times now, the Choke (as opposed to strangle) hold was in place for 12 maybe 15 seconds tops, in itself I would not have thought that would have caused death, but added to his, not obvious, health issues, could have been a contributory factor.
The video does not lie, shame you did not watch it before you posted your inaccurate account of the homicide.
