How dare these people protest against free speech, if they do not like this country pack up and go elsewhere, they do not know the meaning of democracy.

/// The neo-fascist view which you appear to be advocating is that the deaths of a few deliberately provocative and nasty"journalists" is somehow more important than the offence felt by millions of decent (and often vulnerable and marginalised ) people in France and, indeed, the rest of the world including the UK. ///
Oh so what's the deaths of a few nasty journalists, against a body of over sensitive religious fanatics, I say a very great deal.
Is it any wonder that Islam has such a bad name, when lives are of less importance than being offended?

If they were all there to support the Paris murders then that is reprehensible. However, it looks like they were protesting against what they perceive as insults to their religion, so I don't see that it merits the hysterical reaction it's got in some quarters. It's possible to condemn murder and stand up for free speech while at the same time recognising that many are also deeply offended certain things while not condoning murder. This 'partitioned' thinking doesn't really go anywhere.
I see the demo 'provoked anger' in a typical Mailism. No doubt it did but they don't say who exactly was angry

Come on Svejk! These are the ordinary Muslims that everyone talks about. You know, the ones who are just like you and me.
ichkeria, I don’t think the reaction to this is ‘hysterical’ – rather one of disgust, but perhaps you, as a Muslim convert, see it from a different perspective.
AOG, I think vetuste_ennemi was being facetious.

It would seem that this more understandable protest got more attention from the police, but then the Muslims protest wasn't high-jacked by the more aggressive Unite against Fascism mob.

*If you stop offending them you have nothing to fear.*
What a crass remark. How about they stop offending me and others by all their barbaric acts purportedly in the name of religious belief.
And please explain how 'the decent muslims of Britain have spoken' - it seems to me the decent one or two have openly denounced the barbarism and hypocrisy of the seeming majority of the less decent muslims

"Seems like they forgot that they now reside in a free christian country ichkeria, where they are FREELY practicing their religion. If they are offended - tough, there are worse things going on all over this planet a great deal of which involves islam. "
I don't disagree. it's just that I wasn't sure what on earth the fuss was about when I saw the question (tho I should have guessed of course)
If people want to protest about being offended (and let's be honest Christians aren't averse to doing the same thing) then I can't see the problem. Maybe we should calm down a little about this.
