For 18 months you expressed some concern about a large influx of immigrants from Romania & Bulgaria much to the mirth of some ABers. In view of this week's figures that 187,000 have indeed flooded in from those 2 countries in 12 months, are you happy that you were proved right and 'the usual suspects' have a great deal of egg on their faces. Or does it just deepen your original concerns.
Yes I suppose it must seem a little crazy but in this democratic country we have freedom of speech to debate. A lot of foreigners like it in this country for that reason. Sadly it is sometimes abused by them and they turn it against us. Just look at it like PMQ in the house of commons. Most other times in that house are crazy also. Our craziness is the price you pay for democracy. Democracy also gives you a freedom of choice.Whether you wish to visit this site or not!!
Don't get me wrong.I am as British as ham and eggs, but there seems to be some posters on this site who seem to take a delight in downing Britain and the British.
This looks like a classic case of abusing statistics. It's clear that application for NI numbers is a different statistic altogether from gross immigration figures, and confusing the two leads to a false picture of how many people entered since 2014. As has been pointed out, the lifting of restrictions in 2014 meant that all Romanian/ Bulgarian immigrants had to apply for a NINo even if they were here already. Hence the massive spike.
Not a flood, although indeed the gross immigration figures have also increased.
