I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

Scream scream scream scream I'm having a nervous breakdown with all this nitpicking with everything just accept that people were being down right disrespectful at a sombre occasion to remember innocent victims of a horrendous terrorist attack. People should put their phones or whatever down for 1 minute and respect those who died needlessly

// There is also one (lady`s hand holding patterned phone) in the extreme right of the picture. //

Here is the extreme right of that photo...I still don't see anyone taking a selfie.

Have you actually read what I said Gromit (twice) I said I didn`t know whether it was a selfie or a regular picture

This thread is about people taking 'selfies'. I see no patterned phone taking a selfie or a regular photo.

You are seeing things that aren't there.

If you said using phones you might have got more agreement. You said taking selfies. I asked are you sure they were selfies? That was apparently not being sensible apart from being ignored. mamya, DTC and several others also made perfectly sensible comments. 237 also says she didn't know if they were selfies or photos (twice) and that gets BA and the only sensible answer. Now we find that maybe 3 people were using a phone, we know not what for.
On top of that I get called prudish.
i can't be the only one that wishes they'd never joined in the thread.
Stop picking on nits.

You all seem to be missing my point that people should keep their hands off technology as I said at 1459
And you are missing the point that you referred to them as selfies nearly 2 hours before.
Question Author
Prudie why do you have to be so right all the time does it actually matter whether they were taking selfies holding their phone or doing something else with their hands they shouldnt have been it was disrespect and you are beginning to annoy me
It does when you plainly put 'taking selfies' in your OP.

Spot on with that remark and I have learnt a valuable lesson today.

Many people were filming what was happening with their phones I think that was pretty sick
Maybe that should have been your OP.
Question Author
I cant be bothered with this anymore.

Stop being so over sensitive mamyalynne
I am interested to know how you "watched BBC News 24 with the sound turned down" without using technology?
Are you allowed to use it, but no one else, perchance?

Stupid Question I am not repeating my answer if you want to know read back to earlier discussion.
