A Minutes Silence Where Was The Respect?
109 Answers
I watched and observed the minutes silence while watching bbc news 24 with the sound turned down I was quite frankly taken a back with the number of people both in Tunisia and in the UK taking selfies on their phones during the 1 minute silence is it too much to ask people to refrain from using technology for 1 minute??

I saw someone (on the footage taken in Sousse) who was taking a photo during the silence. Is that the person you are referring to? It wasn`t possible to see if he was taking a picture or a selfie. Shame he couldn`t have put the camera down for a minute and just observed the silence. I guess he`ll be including the photo in his holiday shots!

I was in Tesco's. There was a notice on the door about the minute's silence and members of staff reminded us as we wandered around.
At the appointed time everyone in the store fell silent apart from a crying baby and 2 ignorant, fat, tattooed disrespectful females in the frozen foods aisle, who carried on their loud conversation. I moved a few steps and put my finger to my lips to give a hint, someone else did the same at the other end - all to no avail.
At the end of the silence there were some choice comments made (I just agreed with them).
No, is the answer to the O.P..

We were sitting outside a cafe in Wetherby today, the waitress took our order and said that they were observing the one minutes silence inside the cafe and our order would be served soon. Sure enough all the staff inside the cafe stopped work and held the silence, except quite a lot of the 'ladies who lunch' in there still chatted on. Quite a few people said later that while they were sorry for what happened in Tunisia and meant no disrespect, the one minute silence seemed a knee-jerk reaction considering every other atrocity that has taken place all over the world by those fanatics and has gone by unremarked.
