The Oldest Gay In The Village

How cool is this guy ...
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -englan d-susse x-33741 380
Every year, he takes part in the Pride Parade ... on his mobility scooter !!
He carries a banner saying " I'm the oldest gay in the village".
In the past, he has been given a criminal conviction for being gay. This weekend, he married his BF, to coincide with Pride Weekend.
That's the way to go when you're in your 90s!

Yes, but I think it's safe to say that this thread stopped being "news" about ten pages ago or something.
Back on topic for a second... while I can understand people being put off by Gay Pride events for whatever reason, it seems to me that it's a far better state of affairs when people can feel slightly awkward about others being proud of their sexuality than it is than it was previously, when people had to feel ashamed by who they are or at least hide it from the world.

AOG - //Once again it is not just about me, you obviously find other's posts objectionable, so much so that it was most likely you who had a fellow ABer suspended, for stating views that you disagreed with. //
I can't be bothered to answer every one of your points, because we have both gone down this path may times before.
However - any time you feel like retracting your disgraceful inference that I was in any way involved in any suspension of any AB'er ever in this history of the site - including the one to which you refer - I'll be delighted to read it.
You can argue, call me pompous, disagree, any and all of those, but I will not sit still for being accused of involvement in an editorial decision which is not within a light year of my influence.

That accusation was a shot in the dark Andy, and if you say you took no part in getting retrocop suspended then I believe and apologise to you most profusely.
The reason for my accusation was the fact that I read through all the opposing views aimed at retrocop, and yours came up as being the most likely person to have at least reported him.
Looking back and reading what retrocop actually said, I couldn't find what was serious enough to have him suspended? I have read much worse comments on here, and yes some have been rightly removed, and even the whole thread has been removed, but the perpetrator or perpetrators have almost never been suspended for such a trivial remark that retrocop may have made.
But in this case the thread is over the 500 mark and not one post has been removed, all most strange.

Thank you for your gracious apology AOG - accepted of course.

I can understand your reasoning, but everything I had to say to retrocop, I said in my posts - I would not have reported him simply for taking a contrary stance, that would be against the spirit of the AB, and certainly above my own moral standards of fair debate.

AOG - //Must definitely go down to specsavers, I read this;
/// I used to work in an office with 23 women, and I was the only guy. ///
as:
I used to work in an office with 23 women, and I was the only gay.
I thought here we go again, "The Only Gay in the Office"//
LOL!
There were no gays of either gender in that office - but the office I work in now has far less people, and the gay population outnumbers the straights - but no nights out!

JJ - //Question Author
andy - you work in an office with predominantly gay staff ... and there are no nights out ??
I thought the Code Of Gayness demanded frequent nights out. //
To be honest, I think they spend so much time during the day back-biting, bitching, hissy-fitting and generally being unpleasant people, that they are too exhausted for nights out - even assuming they would wish to spend one more minute than they are paid for in each others' company - which I doubt!

No aog, don't you dare, I will leave it up to others to address this attack on certain gays.

It's not really an attack - more of a character assassination!! (LOL!)
And I would not for a minute suggest that their attitudes are in any way influenced by their orientation - but the sharpness of their tongues may well be!!
