Cameron Is On The Radio
Threatening Assad again. Considering Russia and China are supporting Assad, isn't he making a bit of a fool of himself.
It's like Julian Clary threatening Mike Tyson. Could it be simply a case of him backing the wrong side (isis) a couple of years ago and being too stubborn to admit it. (or something much darker)

In the eyes of some the Russians can't do anything right. If a Russian soldier saved a kid who was being strangled by a giant python it would be reported as.... Russian soldier murders child's pet. Most of the blame for the mayhem in the Middle East can be laid squarely on the West ( particularly US of A). It's largely thanks to us that the area has been reduced to a...

//What with our meddling and trying to impose "democracy" on them. Something they neither want nor are capable of living with.//
The problem is that 'they' don't appear capable of living with our democratic values either. Even when given shelter and asylum, their stated aim is the downfall of western civilisation.

Another point to consider being. The fall in oil prices worldwide, mainly due to the Americans now being self sufficient in gas and oil due to their fracking drive, has crippled the Russian economy which was 70% reliant on oil and gas exports. They would love the price of oil to double. Maybe this drives their middle east policies.

Togo,
The price of oil dropping is mainly due to Saudi Arabia over producing and glutting the market. It appears to everyone that the Saudi policy is madness, and at the OPEC meeting in December they will have to agree to cut production. And the price will restore. I fail to see how Russia keeping Assad in power changes anything regarding the price of oil and the Russian economy.

Yes Gromit I know there is a Russian presence on the ground in Syria. It's ME who was pointing that out ages ago ! But not in the numbers necessary to affect the war in the way Putin says he wants
I'm telling you this is not about Putin seriously trying to defeat terrorism, but about Putin making a big noise abroad for the benefit of his own people as he needs a new narrative, Ukraine and the economy having gone breasts up. Scoff all you like but it is true

There maybe some truth in that, but he sure as hell doesn't want a burgeoning Islamic state and would have a better presence in the region with Assad's Allawiten party, then one run by radical Islamists. Something the clowns Cameron and Obama should consider as they should have done before removing the more secular B'ath-run Iraq and Libya which opened the doors for this entire mess.

The Saudis have not over produced although they do state that they will not cut production. The Russians need the price of oil to rise very soon. They cannot influence the price without a massive presence in the Middle East. Syria is just a blind. They already have a massive naval force on hand and are as we argue the toss are getting ground forces in place, starting with special forces which they admitted to only today. America has filled every available storage facility to the brim. Russia waits for the onset of winter in Europe. I for one, am very concerned, and aware of the coming crisis.

Why not wait and see, ichi? Give them a chance. After all, 'we' have been faffing about for years while IS, seemingly, go from strength to strength.
They can't do any worse than this, can they?

There are some JJ who cannot accept that the majority have chosen a PM that does not fit their narrow mindset. Mind you they all thought that Blair was the messiah, and now think that Corbyn is. They must have missed the religious debate that dispelled fervour at any price. Give them more homework methinks.
