Are We Entering An Endless Cycle Of Irrelevant Stupidity?
The Internet is a great place for exchanging views, and challenging viewpoints...but have we entered a period where we now have two tribes - one waiting to be offended by something, and the other waiting for the first to be offended to condemn them for being offended?

Is this the future? Do we no longer really care about the issue, but are more interested in sharing how offended we are on the 'rainbow of outrage'?
What's your take on this?

That's interesting what you've written - thing about Stephen Fry, is that the vast majority of his Twitter posts have been pretty innocuous - and tend to centre on his interests - Apple tech, film and the arts (I used to follow him).
The point I was trying to make (not specifically about this latest incident), is that the Internet now seems to have created these gangs of people roaming around, just waiting to get outraged about something...and now we see boycotts happening on what seems like a weekly basis.
Boycott Dolce & Gabanna because their opinions about gay parenting doesn't chime with mine.
Boycott Disney because they offer same sex couple equal employment rights.
Boycott the Oscars over racial (in)diversity.
Etc etc etc...
Who are these people???
Does anyone actually know someone like this?

I don't think people trawl the internet looking for offence. I think they just trawl the internet. When they see something they have an opinion on, they give it, just like ABers. If people like Fry make dumb jokes, they can expect others to say so.
The internet (/FB/Twitter) means many more people can make their opinions known than used to be the case. It doesn't follow that more of them take offence than they used to, only that they now taking the opportunity to say so.
In this particular case, Fry has suddenly discovered that not everyone is in awe of everything he says. His response to this shock revelation: 'Will all you sanctimonious ***ers f*** the f*** off.'
Well, you too have the right to tweet stuff like that, Steve. Stay classy.
