/// You have to look at the other issues surrounding security, because whether we like it or not we are the most watched people in the world. There’s more CCTV in Britain per head than anywhere else on the planet. And for CCTV to be effective you need to see people’s
faces.” ///

Must admit that he has a point.

Ban it, end of. The bleeding heart brigade will bleed on till hell freezes. Common sense dictates the obvious solution.
Ban it.

Even the Dutch have just voted to ban it in public places.
Is this the man who has only been the leader of UKIP for one day, ?
Bloody hell , send Mrs May to the Nuttall school of Prime Minister Training.
gulliver1 - I would direct you towards the current utterings of Mr Trump, compared with his rhetoric when campaigning. What you can say when you shout from the un-empowered side-lines, and what you say when you are in a position of power, and may have to actually do what you say you will do – are two very different positions.

I broadly agree but I am going to make a prediction here that will break the trend:-

Geert Wilders will win the Dutch election in March and all I will say is - watch this space!
But as you say , at this moment , un- empowered, a/g.
UKIP were un-empowered when they brought about the EU referendum.

There may be more chance of this getting passed by Parliament though if we focus on less controversial issues such as security rather than risk antagonising groups further by saying we want to get our country back or so fundamentalist muslims will pack up and leave western countries for an islamic country where they can feel at ease with there misogyny and sharia.

UKIP are still un-empowered about getting Brexit through- though their day may come again if Parliament/Lords block Brexit
I'm sure security is the main issue.

I refer you to the answer I gave you at 15:32 Tue 29th Nov 2016

Which strangely you failed to respond to.
AOG - apologies, I missed that post.

In response, I would say that leaving the EU with its endless legal machinations, and stranglehold on trading options for UK business chimes far more with the electorate - hence its success - than going for easy political grandstanding with no realistic chance of being turned into law.

We are going through turbulent times, who can predict what security measures may have to be introduced?

A ban on the burqa seems high on the list of priorities, judging by the overwhelming response on here.

Perhaps the Ed would care to conduct a vote on the matter?
AOG - I think a ban on the burka is high on the agenda of people on here who don't like Muslims - I don't believe they represent the nation as a whole by any means.

If the Daily Mail can conduct a vociferous campaign against free carrier bags, do you not think they would spot a winning opportunity like a campaign against burkas?
I suggest that 'multiculturism' is a misnomer and the correct term would be 'biculturism' - every other group of immigrants seem to have assimilated successfully into the native way of life of their adopted country whilst still keeping their religious beliefs to themselves except for muslims. It has been endlessly expressed on AB how they expect their host country to bow to their ways and for us to accommodate them. I believe this special treatment has to stop now and banning the burqa would be a good first step.

I don't actually believe that Muslims as a whole expect anyone to 'bow to their ways' - do you have any actual factual evidence for this view? Quoting the Islamist-obsessed regulars on AB really doesn't cut it.
I would have bet the farm that yours would be the first reply to my post, a-h. I have no intention of entering into a debate with you - I have simply expressed an opinion based on empirical evidence and am content to bow out.
I'll take that as a 'no' then.
andy-hughes, //I don't actually believe that Muslims as a whole expect anyone to 'bow to their ways' - do you have any actual factual evidence for this view?//

You don’t believe it because you don’t want to believe it but with a little research (which despite constant invitations you consistently fail to conduct) you would find the evidence you seek. For example, NHS rules dictate that, for reasons of hygiene all medical staff must work with arms uncovered – all, that is, except Muslim staff. For them, patient safety is compromised. Likewise, Muslims working in shops and pharmacies are not obliged, as the rest of the staff are, to handle specific products, prescription birth control pills included. Additionally, special staff are employed at airports in order to check the identity of veil-wearing female passengers, so don't try to tell us that Muslims don't require special concessions. They do.

As answerbank's no 1 supporter of the Islamic faith have you ever considered converting to Islam?

Since I believe they worship on Fridays, then I feel sure it wouldn't clash with your Sunday attendance at church with the present Mrs Hughes.
