Who does she think she is? Having a baby is not a modern innovation it has been going on for centuries.
If I had bought a first class ticket I would not have been best please to sit next to a woman with a screaming baby even if she HAD bought a first class ticket and would have been infuriated to learn that she HADN'T purchased the appropriate ticket.
It was quite correct that she should have been......evicted.

A spokesperson from Southern Rail told the MailOnline: 'Our priority seats are available in both standard class and first class.
'They should be given up if they’re needed more by people with disabilities, expectant mothers, elderly passengers or those carrying infants.
'Passengers using priority seats in first class should still have a valid first class ticket unless first class has been declassified due to disruption.'
Another passenger points out that at the last station 'that because of Southern problems you can travel in any part of the train'.
It's that simple.

Andy...I wasn't aware that all the second seats on that train were already taken. If that was the case, then a humanitarian response should be expected.
Talk of "cattle class" says a lot about the person who uses such a phrase.
I travel by train very rarely, but my experience of First Class is that its full of businessmen, who hadn't paid for their tickets themselves.

Ummmm Reserved seats with numbers are only on long distance trains and the reservation costs extra on top of the fare 1st or 2nd class.
In 'peak hour' trains you are not even guaranteed a seat! Unlimited standing passengers are also allowed. The peak / rush hour trains from my station are always so full that often you can't even get on to stand up! Some passengers are left on the platform to wait for the next train.
When I used to commute to London I used to get a train an hour earlier than I needed, just so I could be sure of getting a seat for the 50 minute journey.

Sqad - //A-H......yes....by and large i do feel that i am "buying a pass to social superiority." By and large, although there are exceptions, a first class, ticket, a suite in a 5* hotel would indicate a better social class pd people.
Am I a "snob?" too bloody right i am ....and proud of it. //
What a shame Sqad, that your enjoyment of your suite will be forever spoiled by your inability to get a wink of sleep, wondering if the person in the suite next to you got a free upgrade!!!
Oh well ...
