One has to empathise with them, the thought of a long missing daughter and now this, what can only be guessed an enormous legal bill to face?

Should they appeal?

Jack..compassion does not matter..facts do....leaving such young kids is NOT acceptable EVER !
No one on this thread thinks it's okay to leave youngsters on their own, Minty. The McCanns made a dreadful mistake. A terrible error of judgement. Anyone, from any background can make a terrible mistake. They just happened to pay for that mistake.
I`m not sure that leaving kids alone in a foreign country is any different to leaving kids alone in a UK garden whilst the parents enjoy thier BBQ

eh?
seriously?
Yes.....I think you might have already mentioned that.

I congratulate you on your perfect parenting-skills; an achievement I never quite attained along with every other parent in the land bar one it seems.
mamy do not be pedantic wheter my caps are off or on the message remains and yes I am fired up..I have personal experience of child abuse that could have been prevented with lasting catastrophic results and I make no excuse for using capitalls !
Careful, Minty, you'll get dizzy balancing up there on that giant soapbox.
Oh bog off Talbot - have you got any of your own thoughts to impart :-)
nom I do not profess to be perfect but cannot beleive that folks cannot see the fact that 3 children3 and under were left unattended to suffer the consequences that Maddie did and think for one moment that is acceptable !
"Could have been prevented with lasting catastrophic results"

Eh?
NO ONE THINKS IT'S ACCEPTABLE!!!!!

For Funks Sake!!!

I myself have been left to care for children over the years, ie nieces, nephews other people's children and I inadvertently took some risks - recalling a day when I looked after 6 children under the age of 7. Never ever ever forget that day.
and they do not deserve public support .it was down to them and them alone this happened !
Pedantic? I think it does matter and how on earth do you leap to the fact that no one else has any personal experience of child abuse.

You are perfectly entitled to strongly voice your opinions but try not to do it hysterically.

I'll leave it there.
lasting in so far as this debate continues..they left therir kids alone ..one was abducted...because they were left alone..where is the argument ?
mamy I am not prone to hysteria ..only facts !
You are behaving hysterically, Minty.......FACT.
"It was down to them and them alone"

Nothing to do with the abductor then???

Keep up the self-congratulating, resonating, verbal diarrhoea....
fact Jack 3 kids 3 and under were left unsupervised ! over to you !
If doing your utmost to keep your children from harm makes you a perfect parent then I'm guilty.

IF I am working in the back garden I always without fail locked the front door and told my kids to give me a shout rather than answer the door.
Sometimes if the kids have fallen asleep downstairs the wife has said they will be ok down here ... no they won't, houses get burgled anything could happen if that event occurred.

There is no way I could ever relax and enjoy a meal knowing my kids were in an unlocked building out of my vision ... no way at all.

And I am slightly intrigued was awful neglect other ABers have been guilty of.
an abductor would NOT have had them had they NOT been left alone !
