Girls 'too Poor' To Buy Sanitary Protection Missing School

there are single ladies without a high level of benefit struggling to pay rent..HB does NOT cover 100% rent....buy food..cloth themselves...and finance job search too..let alone buy toiletries

There was a time when I was younger that it was very difficult despite working full time and having help with my rent by the time travel money and food etc was taken out I was very short on cash to the point that I had to buy sanitary protection the cheapest available. protection that cheap offers very little protection by the way and cost more in the long run. Some people are just plain nasty!

A lot of you seem to be missing a point, one which I raised- some girls may not be telling their care givers about them starting their periods as they know full well that it will increase their family's outgoings, and so they struggle on with their 'homemade' ones.

B00, in that case it's not that the family really can't afford it, but simply that the girl is aware that it will place an extra burden on family finances.

sanitary towels can be bought for as little as a £1, whilst I agree that these necessities should not be taxed I don't think there is any excuse not to have adequate sanitary protection for these girls. surely the mother would be buying sanitary protection for herself, It may be the case that the girls are not telling or it may be that we are not getting the full story.

Islay has made a point about using cheap tampons....as a chap, I am not terribly sure about the quality issue, but if true, then the problem would seem to be real.

You are making the mistake of confusing nastiness with people questioning whether people really are too poor to afford the protection.

Doubting whether people really are too poor is a legitimate doubt, and has absolutely nothing to do with being nasty.

As a slight aside, I had to buy tampons from my local shop yesterday as I'd forgotten to buy them when in town earlier (doh!), they didn't have generic tampons so I had to but Tampax, they cost me an eye watering £2.50!
