Sqad But the procreation argument doesn't make sense, unless gay people are biologically incapable of producing children. And let's face facts - closeted gay people have been producing kids for millennia. So - homosexualit y in itself cannot possibly be dangerous to society. What would be accurate is this: "Homosexuali ty is dangerous to society, when...

//Why does any conversation about people like him immediately go into "he has the right to his opinion?" //
Let me give you a clue Kromo, that was your line^^. Of course he has no right to an opinion.....you say so.(and of course others) Breathtaking hypocrisy to be an avid supporter of free speech, until someone dares to disagree with what you think, and to then attribute your regard on such free speech as your, and only yours, to be the judge of. Off to dig my veg patch, the weather looks promising. :))

mikey...sorry about the delay...Spanish lunch....mid-afternoon.
No the effect on " society" will not be next year, not in ten years, not in the next century, but in the future.
You are correct...millions of non gays developed over millions of years, so on that basis the "effect on society " if at all will be far in the future, but there all the same............
However, i do have to agree that the term "effect on society" certainly needs a better explanation than sqad gives.

sp1814....I agree with your comments but have only just seen your post. Perhaps my answer to mikey may have helped.........or may not ;-)
But remember, these "dinosaurs" have been through at least one World War, seen poverty and unemployment, seen strikes and been indoctrinated, in a society where not only was homosexuality illegal, but it was "vile, abnormal, dirty, puffs, shirt lifters, penises in bums and this is difficult to get out of one's system.
Today, present generation is brought up to realise that homosexuality is normal, not dirty and they will grow into "homosexual dinasaurs" with perhaps a keener understanding of mankind. Perhaps. That time is not quite here and hence you understand that it is not helpful to call these people ..."dinasaurs."

Sqad....to be fair to SP, I think it was me that first used the phrase dinosaur !
This man should have realised what would happen if he used such language and he has now paid the penalty for so-doing.
However, looking at his Wiki entry, its not the first time his own Tory Constituency Party has had difficulties with him.
From the above BBC link ::::
Dave Stewart, the Conservative leader of the Isle of Wight Council, said: "It is very disappointing to hear such comments from someone I know and it is a shame for him to end to his career in this way, but what he said was unacceptable"
It seems to me that this latest incidence is a very ignominious end to his career.

JTH. You are no threat to society. I cannot however lose my disgust of MALE homosexuality where sex takes place using the very place designed for the exit of human waste products which I find absolutely abhorrent , & due to the transmission of AIDS related diseases could in my opinion be dangerous to human life in the future should the diseases change their character.
