To be honest all, I can hardly be bothered for now. I spent 16 hours yesterday in a polling station doing the clerking and am crunched. But one thing for sure, I could have told you by 12noon that something big was happening. We are of course not allowed to communicate when on duty, but it was striking how many young first time voters were turning up. It was obvious...

First result in and it's looking rather good for Labour... Newcastle Central was always going to them but with a huge increased majority, on a higher turnout, with UKIP's vote apparently flowing about as much to them as to the Tory party.
May was diabolical. Throwing away a 24 point lead and not taking account of the youth vote. What a strange time in British politics.
I'm not. Watching Mikey getting excited is far more entertaining. I'll see the result tomorrow and that will be what it is.
^That was to Tilly.
Newcastle Central...2% swing to Labour, but the Tories have increased their vote as well. Collapse of UKIP and the Libdems may be a factor here.
It's clear May has to go!!! Whatever the result. Terrible error of judgement in calling an election. Hare and tortoise springs to mind. Complacency is no basis for government. I'm actually quite please if there is to be a hung parliament. It sends out a message that we're all completely *** off with the status quo.
^Or that some of us are completely off our trolleys. ;o)
Similar figures for Houghton and Sunderland South....Labour up but also Tories up....collapse of UKIP.

....and a hair cut!
Lol Murdo! I was thinking the same thing!
Matthew Parris has just said that if the Exit Poll is right he thinks that is a result of the young getting their revenge on the older people.

Not so Naomi and a complete misreading of the situation if I may say so. We're all hacked off with politicians and their elitist, ivory tower, Eton based running of our country.
Wake up call to politicians everywhere. Hopefully.
The Ghastly Neil Hamilton now live on the Beeb !

Well, the main thing is that I don't know whether or not to trust the Exit Poll. Depends on how you interpret the first pair of results -- some arguing that it's probably better news for the Tories -- but at any rate it could be a long night.

And far, far closer than it ever should have been.
I'm not a Tory supporter , however I think they will pull it back - I don't trust those exit polls
