To be honest all, I can hardly be bothered for now. I spent 16 hours yesterday in a polling station doing the clerking and am crunched. But one thing for sure, I could have told you by 12noon that something big was happening. We are of course not allowed to communicate when on duty, but it was striking how many young first time voters were turning up. It was obvious...
First result in and it's looking rather good for Labour... Newcastle Central was always going to them but with a huge increased majority, on a higher turnout, with UKIP's vote apparently flowing about as much to them as to the Tory party.
It's clear May has to go!!! Whatever the result. Terrible error of judgement in calling an election. Hare and tortoise springs to mind. Complacency is no basis for government. I'm actually quite please if there is to be a hung parliament. It sends out a message that we're all completely *** off with the status quo.
Not so Naomi and a complete misreading of the situation if I may say so. We're all hacked off with politicians and their elitist, ivory tower, Eton based running of our country.
Wake up call to politicians everywhere. Hopefully.
Well, the main thing is that I don't know whether or not to trust the Exit Poll. Depends on how you interpret the first pair of results -- some arguing that it's probably better news for the Tories -- but at any rate it could be a long night.
And far, far closer than it ever should have been.
