Mrs May's New Plans
I understand that lots of the things that were in the Tory Manifesto will be ditched over the next few days......loss of the triple lock for OAPs, and means testing for the Winter Fuel Payment, as well as bringing back Hunting with Dogs, and an expansion of Grammar Schools.
So how will May explain that to the British Public ?

She wont need to as she wont be around and even if she is she wont be the one deciding these things now it will be the Cabinet. Which should prove interesting.

Something like this, perhaps:
"It is clear that only the Conservative party has a mandate to deliver none of the things that we offered to the public in our manifesto. We will go forward with a new commitment to bring forward legislation that bears no resemblance to our previous policy positions. That is what the British people didn't want; that is what we will do anyway. Now let's get to work -- as soon as someone finally comes and delivers me from this personal hell."

Actually when a vote is close you have to listen (as they should anyway) because that is the right thing to do.
Although I firmly believe a lot of the Labour policies would bankrupt us there is nothing to Be said against adopting the ones that do the least damage to the economy (if there is any of course).
As for grammars etc, well the nations children will just have to be content with bog standard one size fits all. Even if they are all different sizes. Bit like going to the shops and they only stock size 10 to 16.

The one thing most important for the Tories to drop is the one which must have cost them the most votes. The idea of taking money off people after their death to cover their care costs, even if they were getting care in their own homes. This affects great numbers of pensioners, (who tend to be keener to vote than many others) and all their potential heirs. With the current value of houses, many hoped-for legacies would be eaten away. Tories have to remember that house-owners have usually been more likely to vote Tory than Labour.
