Presbyterian Alba?

Mamy. It's ridiculous. One shouldn't need a Supervisor. Queue, your turn, pass everything through, pay, next customer please.
I think the time to find out that an employee has issues about selling any product because it conflicts with their faith is ... before they become an employee!

Like - at the initial interview?

It goes like this - "Do you have any issue that would prevent you from handling or selling any of the items we stock in our stores?"

"Yes, I would not be able to handle alcohol / pork / Smarties ...(insert issue object here)."

And the letter would read "Sorry, your application was not successful on this occasion."

I see no problem with that.
Ok.
Would not employ the man / women as they are not able to do their job
. 'Are you offended by any meat or alchohol'

Aldi really need to make ammendments to their job aplication form.
.
cashier or manager Mamya ? lol xx

do wish folk would get their head in gear when working with the public, I scan items, I'm a helpful member of staff, (plus some members of the public could do with being educated on how to treat cashiers etc)

Maybe they've made them that's why Mohammad got the job!
alavahalf - // Aldi really need to make ammendments to their job aplication form. //

That could lead them into issues regarding perceived religious discrimination.

The way around it is to deny the potential employee the post - the company are not obliged to reveal the reason why the candidate is unsuitable.
And Muslims wonder why so many people have a problem with them.
Clear thinking, Andy. Thanks.
Whilst training them at the check-out, would it be wrong to put a variety of items on the conveyor belt to find out what they would or wouldn't touch?
The supervisor would then thank them and then the letter would be sent 'not successful at this time' ?
This country is getting so PC
Is it TonyV? I read and hear pretty angry and what many may consider Non PC stuff all the time.
//Dozens of Twitter users praised the store for respecting the worker's wishes//

Twitter users? A misprint surely? Twitty users perhaps?

I wonder what % of Aldi shoppers have alcohol in their trolley?
Ok this is about the cashiers beliefs, I respect that. So what about Catholics and fasting on good Friday or only eating meat?? You respect that. Admittedly I've not seen one on a till refusing to handle certain food.
Mama I think so with this rediclous request
andy hughes, there's every likelihood Aldi did ask the question, hired the man, and put a notice on the till asking customers to use other tills. Which I would do. Honestly, the things people get hysterical about these days.
Sharon, //Ok this is about the cashiers beliefs, I respect that. //

Why - and does your respect extend to the rest of the cashier's beliefs?
