What a lot of fuss about nothing. They don't even look like the traditional dreadlocks that some black people have. It's just a bit of extra styling for a fashion show.
Are any black people offended by this?
Zebo,
\\Is chemically lightning one's skin or straightening one's hair 'cultural appropriation or is it a one way street?//

its a one way street, I cant remember any cries of racism when Michael Jackson lightened his skin.
They are not dreadlocks.

They are multicoloured hair extensions. They are faux locks (or perhaps even ‘bollo...’)

Would’ve been awesome for Jacobs to really push boundaries by perhaps hiring models who actually have dreadlocks, but then some on here would then complain about positive discrimination against white models.
"I just feel uncomfortable when you repeatedly dismiss a woman's appearance, which you do frequently."

It's very off-topic, but to be honest I agree with Eccles on this, Mikey. You *do* seem to have a habit of commenting on women's appearances rather than, you know, make an actual point.

That may be down to the fact that he had a skin condition called vitiligo. That’s what he claimed at the time when it became apparent that his skin was several shades lighter in the 80s than it was in the 70s:

never understood the fashion my self, looks like ropes dangling off ones bonce, could be worse i guess the mohawk hairstyle was kind of strange to me, as for the politically correct mmm bouffant brains..

/// Its my opinion Eccles....I think she looks ridiculous... ///

I couldn't agree more, but the point is mikey, would you have said the same had she been a black model?
Catwalk models are often styled to look ridiculous. It's all part of the show, and to get the designer talked and written about. No one is meant to like it.
It's fashion, it's fun , it's exaggerated - nothing wrong with it.

The Turner Prize in hair styles.
The Turner Prize generates enough controversy every year for a thread all on its own.

Earlier you wrote about Marc Jacobs, ‘foppish pirate look’.

I believe you may be thinking of John Galliano, not Marc Jacobs:

There are some cynical individuals on here.

Cloverjo @15.19hrs, I hope you meant no one is obliged to like it, rather than 'no one is meant to like it'.
AOG....(15:13)....yes I would. I still think it looks a mess.

But where is the little boy, in the "Emperor's New Clothes" ?
No, not really. I meant what I said. The ridiculousness of catwalk shows is not used by designers because they think the viewers will like it and copy the same style. Rather, for effect and publicity.
Watch the Bruno link....it says everything there is to say about the fashion business !
I agree, Cloverjo. You're not going to see an outfit like that on the streets of Swansea any time soon (mikey will be relieved), or even on the streets of London, the hub of world hipness. It's a bit like those motor shows where manufacturers turn up with prototype cars of 2030: they're supposed to catch the eye, especially of media photographers, and attract publicity, but they're not for driving. Actual fashion on the streets is a different thing altogether and seldom involves dreadlock wigs.
The problem here is that a small, but vocal minority will take umbrage at this, and will stomp up and down Twitter, Facebook and Reddit, whereas the overwhelming majority of people, both black and white will find great difficulty in giving a crap about it.

However, whilst most of us will shrug at the absurdity of the complaints, it serves a purpose. It allows Marc Jacobs to take a stand against political correctness, because the Twitterratti are like so important, and it allows threads like this to be created.

In the real world, outside the ridiculous ‘Outrage-of-the-Day’, which is social media, no-one really cares.
I get the feeling I might nod off during one of Mikey's fashion shows.
I dunno, sp1814, it's shaken AB to its foundations.
