Actually, I disagree.

Outfits extremely similar to those have been and gone.

Approximately 35 years ago.

Remember Hayzi Fantayzee?

sp1814, pop stars and pantomime dames don't count.
Why indeed AOG, I am in complete agreement.

I just love the expression 'cultural appropriation'.

It's a wonderful piece of shorthand for -

"I am so up myself with my over-analysed achingly right-on desire to be seen to be defending the 'under-dog' and being squirmingly ashamed of myself being the upper-class wonk with too much time on my hands and not enough serious thoughts to occupy myself - which I clearly am, because no sensible mature adult would give the notion of 'cultural appropriation' (I have to stop typing for a minute, I'm laughing too hard!) a moment's brain room because it is a media construct designed to make shallow people think that their pointless opinions matter to anyone except themselves."
would any of the ladies on here buy this stuff..if so at what occasion would you wear it?
The short bright blue jacket would look fabulous with jeans, black boots and a white shirt blouse - perfect for a lunch date.
Love the long duster coats too and the vividly patterned tights/leggings (hard for me to distinguish which they are from the pic).
can see you in it now mamya x
Mamy...I agree....that bright blue jacket looks really nice, although not perhaps with that hat.
Because they look dreadful, and dirty, and unpleasant.
Meryl Streep explained it perfectly in the Devil Wears Prada. No most of us wouldn't wear it but the watered down token version that ends up in the high street most definitely.
When shopping from a collection, you choose what you like - similar to customising your car.
I like much of what was on display, wouldn't necessarily wear it altogether but individual pieces are entirely wearable on a day to day basis.
Prudie.

Loving the fact that you know the cerulean quote...it bears repeating:

Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select... I don't know... that lumpy blue sweater, for instance because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.
At the very great risk of opening up this "fashion" debate too much, just what on earth is Teresa wearing in this link ?

Thankyou SP for finding that, as I said, a brilliant explanation :-)
Looks a bit like Welsh tapestry Mikey!!
Prudie...yes, I agree, and they kept running out on one pattern and had to use another !

I think it’s a Vivienne Westwood. It’s very much her style.
