"Five people, including three children, killed after stolen car crashes into tree in Leeds - two boys in custody"

No other news at present, but it sounds like a dreadful waste of life.

What a stupid waste of life. The kids were 12 and 15 years old. Their poor families.

Mikey, you had a thread pulled yesterday which contained some very crass comments so don’t throw stones around in this one.
Tragic loss of life whatever the circumstances. It's a high crime area, or was when I lived there for a couple of years, minutes from where this awful incident happened.
Question Author
Zacs....I asked for the thread to be pulled, but what has that got to do with your, quite frankly, disgusting remarks this morning ?

Any loss of life is a senseless waste but this is a case of 'you live by the sword, you die by the sword.'

I'm personally relieved that no innocent, unconnected bystanders were injured or killed.
thankfully they did not kill any innocent road users as is so often the case in these incidents.
IF all 5 were in the car, then no sympathy.
If any were pedestrians, lots of sympathy for their families.

The owner of the car will be spending today and tomorrow on the phone to their insurance company
(hopefully, the car was insured)
Exactly NoM.
All the people criticising some of the comments, what would you be saying if this car had ploughed in to a family coming the other way killing them all and the occupants of the stolen car survived.

No sympathy here, if they were not in the stolen car they would not have died.
webbo, ZM I guess anne forgot to call you two "odious" then!
Mikey I believe yesterday you said something along the lines of 'I don't mind if the thread is pulled' which isn't quite the same as asking for it to be so. Anyway whatever the background this must be sickening for the families and the services who had to come across the scene and deal with it.
Twould seem so. I’m surprised that you let her comment get to you so much Tora.
at the end of the day lives were lost, that can only be sad irrispective of circs, fortunately no others were taken, but for pity's sake..children were involved here, innocent or not it is all very regrettable

We can only comment on what actually happened not on what might have happened.

albaqwerty's sympathy for what is after all is just a heap of metal, leaves much to be desired.

just to be clear, I have no sympathy for the heap of metal, have sympathy for the owner of the vehicle who may lose wages through having no transport to get to work.

Having been on the receiving end of that, some years ago, it makes me seethe that some folk think it's OK to steal or break into other people's property just for 'fun'
Latest from the Yorkshire Post:
‘Two boys aged 15 have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody’

Albs nobody is suggesting it is ok to steal someone elses property in any way whatsover of course it is not and had they not then this whole tragedy would not have happened, but it did and whatever one may think of the travelling community, and I certainly do not hold a candle there, the resulting loss of life is very regrettable even if avoidable,
the whole situation is ghastly.

Another thing to consider here is that 5 out of 7 occupants of the car were under 16 years of age. If they were engaging in that sort of criminal behaviour at such a young age, what would they have been doing in 10 years time. Hardly striving to make the world a better place!

Of course they didn't deserve to die but I'm not going to feign sympathy here.

I doubt my opinion will go down well with many but I honestly couldn't give a stuff.
