I still have two of my old blue ones with the corner of the front cover clipped when they were renewed. The two or three "EU" versions which I've had went straight in the bin when they ran out.
I feel a petition coming with a march to the commons demanding that British passports should be red white a blue and anyone with a passport cover that’s black, brown or smells of foreign spices to be put in the socks, deported and flailed at their destination, lol.

Well, it's an expensive redesign project so I am glad they have made the right decision for so many - quite a while since I had a passport so makes little impact on me.
When once motorbiking around in Spain, and In a bit of a tiz in a bank in Ronda, I left my old dark passport face down on a near matching granite counter, I didn't discover what I had done until two days later and had to back-track to retrieve it.
So I'm happy with a red one!
