I can't repeat his comments here on AB, but they are all there for people to read. Not made in private but in the Oval Office, in front of other people.

Is this really the kind of language that we would expect the POTUS to be using ?

It is quite possible to be a billionaire and a moron, DD. Especially when the core of one's wealth is inherited. As I've said before, Trump is a member of de facto nobility rather than a self-made entrepreneur. - No, this kind of uneducated language is not the kind we should expect from the President. But it is exactly the kind of language we can now expect from the...

Watched last night Tom Hanks in 'Captain Phillips' (a true story) featuring Somalis and Somalia and I can endorse what Donald Trump said without reservation.
^Great film.
And let me not beat about the Obama (copying the president here: saying ‘Obama’ when I should say ‘Bush’)
My opinion is that these countries are not ‘*** holes’ whatever issues they may have. And it’s disgraceful to say they are. Plainly they are poor and have issues which are the reason so many want to come to the US in the first place. Does Trump get not even this? By pining for the Norwegians, good white respectable folk from an advanced democracy, he seems to be somewhat missing the point.
It’s a bit like a doctor complaining that only the sick ever come to visit.
Ichkeria, //My opinion is that these countries are not ‘*** holes’ whatever issues they may have. And it’s disgraceful to say they are.//

A bit like it's disgraceful to say anything that's deemed politically incorrect so we all shut up. The fact is they are.
I don't suppose it's worth mentioning why Haiti is a "sh1thole", is it? Like the US occupation of the country in the early C20, using methods worthy of the SS. Or the persistent US support for the corrupt and brutal Duvalier regime? Or the invasions of Haiti again in 1994 or 2004? Or the fact that the country was recently devastated by an earthquake (hardly the citizens' fault), and that the previous US administration permitted entry to Haitian refugees as a basic act of compassion towards a neighbouring country?

Does that not perhaps explain why it is especially distasteful and callous for the US president to act like a schoolyard bully and mock that country and its people for being a "sh1thole"? Is it not reasonably clear why that is a callous, stupid thing to say? Why it speaks to the President's basic lack of self-control, prudence or common decency?

Trump left his rights to a private individual opinion at the door when he entered the White House. That office has responsibilities that he does not understand or respect. At this point I am sick of assuming Trumpkins are arguing in good faith. It's quite obvious that you're not.

Trump is far from gaining from any sympathy vote. his own people are now deserting him ::

Trump has also been castigated by the UN !

Yep, the Gallup poll (as well as many others) shows Trump to have a considerably lower rating for January in the second term of office than every recent POTUS

The above resignation, the unpopularity of his recent remarks. In truth I doubt Trump cares .
^Perhaps the BBC has just picked up on news of that resignation. It isn't in direct response to the subject of this thread.

Anne....there are a lot of people on here that don't care either....they are the ones that are denying all the allegations made about him, even when the evidence is overwhelming. They are the Trumpettes.

It gets worse for Trump, as more of his own Party come out against him.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, said that Trumps slur was "very unfortunate and and unhelpful.

Florida's Representative, Lleana Ros-Lehtinen said that his comments were "Completely unacceptable....if that isn't racist, I don't know what is"

Idaho's Mike Simpson said that Trumps remarks were "stupid, irresponsible and childish"

It doesn't look as if there is any great ground swell of sympathy for Trump does it ?

/// It answers it perfectly Naomi, but no matter what point I successfully make, you will still support Trump ! ///

And what point have you successfully made Mikey? Please tell us.
Hahahaha I love AB
//Watched last night Tom Hanks in 'Captain Phillips' (a true story) //
// ^Great film. - true so true - just like The Sound of Muzak!"//

From the internet: Do the crew members of the Maersk Alabama believe that Captain Phillips is a hero?
No, the majority of them do not believe that Captain Richard Phillips is a hero. In fact, due to the decisions made by Captain Phillips, 11 of the crew members have sued Maersk Line and the Waterman Steamship Corp. for nearly $50 million, citing "willful, wanton and conscious disregard for their safety."

blimey Kh I dont recollect THAT bit from the film !
aog, I'm surprised you haven't pointed out that Trump won't be invited to Harry and Meghan's wedding. It was right there all over the front page of the Mail.
Incorrectly attributing quotes to an 80s pop star whom you’d never heard of and now lauding a partially accurate film as evidence that Somalia is a shi****e, Khandro. Your sources ain’t improving are they?
Most of these countries are literally "sh1tholes" seeing that many do not have the basic luxury of flush toilets and sewers.
Carbolic and dignity should make a comeback.
//Most of these countries are literally "sh1tholes" seeing that many do not have the basic luxury of flush toilets and sewers.//

I have a friend who was in Haiti as part of the aid effort, AOG. She informed me that the earthquake in 2010 devastated the country's sewage system and caused such a foul smell that the aid workers were required to smear substances under their nose to keep doing their work without gagging or becoming nauseated. The locals, of course, didn't have such a luxury and in many cases contracted diseases from prolonged exposure to raw sewage (especially those who had been wounded).

I don't know what kind of hilarious point you think you're making, but I don't think it's particularly funny or clever to call a country a "sh1thole" when its sewage system has been destroyed by a natural disaster and reduced its population to dire poverty and disease. I think that shows a fundamental lack of empathy - in fact even a level of spite and malice - towards other people who aren't lucky enough to be in a safe and clean environment.
why are the usual Trump apologists arguing that they are ( those countries are sh1tholes ) when Trump says - "he did nart use that word"
I mean those supporters are putting words into the Great Man's mouth arent they ?

if trumpo says he didnt - then I accept he didnt and it is all Fake Nooze. Bugt why are the usual suspects saying he did - and they are ?
simply, what a numpty....Haiti may be a bit of a disaster and meriting the title but that does not mean that Mr Pot(u)s should use that term as it is derogatory and not befitting someone resident in the Oval Office.

Makes you wonder what he would make of the crumbling edifices called Buck House and Windsor Castle and their occupants. Thank goodness that the 'beano' is now off or at least delayed, the longer the better.
