I think the crux of the issue is, Zacs, that you are perfectly content to be ruled by a bunch of unelected foreigners, most of whom you have never heard of and who you have no opportunity to select or dismiss rather than elected MPs about whom you can do a bit of research before casting your vote and who have to stand for re-election every five years.
Nobody is suggesting that all UK MPs are whiter than white. But the EU as an institution falls well short of purity and many of its unelected officers have dubious backgrounds. Add to that the democratic deficit from which it suffers (which I think you will find it difficult to dismiss) and you can understand why people no longer want their country's sovereignty signed away to such a body.
Effectively what you are saying is that I know they are all a bunch of shysters but I prefer the unelected foreign bunch to those I can vote in and out.

NJ. Well put, I haven't got the energy to waste time on people playing games of devil's advocate. I've looked on other threads, current and former, and this poster makes a point of simply being argumentative for it's own sake, as a default position whatever the subject.

I had found out about Selmayrs coup more-or-less when it happened, Khandro. I've never had the slightest regret about voting to leave the EU, if anything I am more desperate than ever to get out as fast as possible and angry at this transition agreement.
On the subject of our M.P.s. I am now in regular email correspondence with mine and he knows how I feel. He campaigned for Leave, but is now trying to defend the deal on fishing and is avoiding answering my points on the 'backstop' position. Another long email beckons, methinks. :)
The point is that at least I can argue with him and try to influence him and, through him, the Government. (He's a Tory.) Wonder how long a letter addressed to a beaurocrat in the EU would take to arrive and be binned as irrelevant!
