Obviously most of the ordinary persons did, pity our authorities didn't take notice, but then they did everything to hide the fact, with the closed curtains on their coaches and the special barrier screens erected at the reception centres.

They should be deported to the country of origin (possibly France) and permanently excluded from ever returning to the UK. What they did was put themselves above legitimate children in need. The backlash against migrants in general and Calais migrants in particular is in part because any sane and reasonable person could see these 'children' were not...

yeah that thought occurs to me - erm on a daily basis
however something to cheer you up AOG
I was yarting, blah blah blah about something - Bell's palsy I think, - dysgeusia, hyperacusis and that sort of stuff, inbvolvement of the acoustic nerv e and so on
and the "listener" ( if he can be called that) said:
"yes its true! I read that in the Daily Mail this morning"
even I paused for breath.
( for AOG fans and other slow thinkers - that story was to show that all truth REALLY does reside in the pages of the Daily Mail)

You've not made it clear though, AOG, why the Mail's report shows that we are letting too many in who are not really children. Checks were made and some were found to be adults. Hopefully they always check them. So what statistics are there on how many deceive the checkers?
The only way I would see what you mean is if normally just take the "children's" word for it and this sample showed that in fact 13% of past 'child' entrants were probably adults.
Of course we should make the tests as rigorous as possible and maybe we should detain the dubious cases for much longer in less comfortable conditions while we investigate further to deter others or put the onus on them to prove they are children- but I am pretty sure the dental checks and facial recognition tests have been shown to be unreliable at the margins so could easily get say a 16 year old and a 20 year old the wrong way round

AOG- the headlines in your last two links make it clear it is two thirds of those quizzed. They do not support the deliberately very misleading Mail headline. The first Telegraph one is equally misleading though based on the words in red. I may read it later if I get chance but I know it will show only 13% not 67% were actually found to be adults

It may have been a long day for some, but don't all these headlines say the same?
DAILY MAIL:
/// Two-thirds of UK ‘child’ refugees quizzed are actually adults ///
THE TELEGRAPH:
/// Two-thirds of child refugees screened by officials found to be adults, Home Office figures show ///
THE EXPRESS:
/// REFUGEE LATEST: Two-thirds of UK ‘child’ refugees quizzed are actually adults ///
THE SUN:
/// AGE RAGE Two thirds of ‘child’ refugees in UK who are quizzed about their age are OLDER than 18 ///
THE WESTMONSTER:
/// Two-thirds of ‘child refugees’ in UK who were questioned are actually
adults ///
