The Government Will Fail To Meet Labours Six Tests
Simply because the only way to meet them is to stay in.
1.Does it ensure a strong and collaborative future relationship with the EU?
2. Does it deliver the “exact same benefits” as we currently have as members of the Single Market and Customs Union?
3. Does it ensure the fair management of migration in the interests of the economy and communities?
4. Does it defend rights and protections and prevent a race to the bottom?
5. Does it protect national security and our capacity to tackle cross-border crime?
6. Does it deliver for all regions and nations of the UK?
1. Define strong and collaborative.
2 is impossible outside the EU.
3 have they defined what is fair and the interests of the economy and communities?
4 means nothing. There is nothing to quantify what race to the bottom actually means.
5. Unless either side want to cut off their own noses ....
6. Deliver what?
If they think May and the government are going to want agreement on vague assurances then their six tests are just as vague simply so they can say they haven’t been met.

Keir Starmer just said this:-
If it is not possible (he was referring to a general election), we must have other options. And, conference, that must include campaigning for a public vote. Conference, it’s right that parliament has the first say. But if we need to break the impasse, our options must include campaigning for a public vote. and nobody is ruling out remain as an option.

I know that the Labour Party is getting ever giddier with its nonsensical policies, cushioned by the cast-iron certainty that they are never going to be called to implement them as a government - but even by their standards, they seem to be losing the concept of behaving like an official Opposition Party, and instead trumpeting their qualifications for government of a box of paper clips.

//promote Keir Starmer to leader, call a General Election,//
keir starmer might be ticking all your boxes, but he'll never be leader of the labour party whilst momentum are in the ascendancy. he's a Blairite through and through and what's more, he's thoroughly unprincipled when it comes to acting in his own interest. if he believed his career would get a leg up if he were to "throw" the election and let the tories in, he'd do it.
